sketch vs final 1

HAHA the way i layout comic sketches is kinda so funny to me, this one wasnt SOOOO bad. alot of the time i will draw things in randomized order and seemingly nonsequential before having to piece it together in a way ppl can actually read :-j..

for this i did my paintbucket fill method of coloring in which i did a haphazard lineart over the sketch (used 100% black this time around but i think using a tinted dark but lightish color for the "lines" makes the paintbucket pieces more interesting to the eyeballs. but this was always gonna be a night scene so the black wasnt too bad for it :-0 }

anyway so fast sketchy lineart -> using the paintbucket to color those in like a little coloring book. going back over features that got washed away (like akis skin tone vs eye whites) with either the black lineart color or even better one of the dark blues in the bg around him to bring the shape back.

the cigarette light was simply a fuzystatic brush with a layer mode (i believe it was... liner light) in which i used clipping to keep it only on aki and jerry layers. layers in order

comic panel layer
liner light lighting layer
(used a lowered opacity layer for the scribbles above akis head but i immediately -> merged it to)
colorfill layer
sketchy lineart (but alot of the times i will have colorfill and sketchy lineart be the same layer i just didnt want to mess up and lose details potentially this time around!)
background layer
original sketch layer (hidden most of the time after sketchy lineart is good to go)

i managed to get this done from completely blank canvas to constructed finished comic in about two hours speedrunning for valentines day.. i usually would try to mold and shape things in it for longer and originally wanted to make an actual background but im definitely not unhappy with what i went with :-) which is cool bc i usually hate the bgs i think of HAHA!!

thank u all <3

I am loving you!! Always πŸ˜πŸ’• it’s even more funny but I also see that panel as a big heart too and it wasn’t on purpose just the way I splatted colors down but I thought that it was really cute and didn’t mess w it further :-} so happy it can read heart-like to other ppl!!
