I might get a diagnosis this week

Two years of undiagnosed chronic pain and illness have taught me one thing. Health (by choice or genetic lottery), like thinness, does not make you a better person than an unhealthy or disabled person. If you live long enough, you will become disabled and unhealthy. You think you can stave that off because you have convinced yourself that your health is in your control, and that anyone who looks unhealthy to you just didn't exercise enough self control. But it's not true. At the end of the day we are all the same. We are all human. And some of us are fat (by choice, disability, or just because our bodies look like that, without reason).

Comments

I hope you do get a diagnosis and get help with your pain. It is so absurd and cruel we live in a world that moralizes bodies and health, which actually is bad for our wellbeing. There is no state of health or size at which someone stops being a human being who should be treated with basic respect and dignity.
