There’s a stream and some trees and a dull glow

From some bioluminescent mushrooms

To the light at the end of ravine

Tamion looks at Half Elf, still half in the stream

And he’s looking like a mutant…that’s a rarity

Half Elf wakes up in pain to the sound of a click

As a golden collar closes ‘round his Half Elf neck

Tamion: It’s hard to stand and walk because of pesky injury, from your grubby little friend.

Half Elf: Well, take this chain and collar off and set me free, and for help I’ll go and send.

Tamion: Oh, what are you thinking? Oh, you think I’m stupid? Well, far from it.

You’re never getting that collar off, better start learning to love it.

You’re my captive for the moment.

Half Elf: Well, that’s not gonna last.

Tamion: You’re joining my collection.

Half Elf: Oh, we’ll see about that.

Tamion: We’ll soon be on our way because my wounds are on the mend.

So, come on friend.

Half Elf: Oh, I don’t call you “friend”.

Half Elf: We’ve been travellin’ the cavern for, what feels, a couple days.

And the exit still looks far.

Tamion: I won’t allow us time to rest, cause we are not alone…there are monsters in the dark.

Half Elf: Oh, what are you thinking? Think it’ill work out if attacked while tired?

Just take the collar off, you can rest and I’ll keep watch. I am no fast liar.

Tamion: You’re my ally for the moment.

Half Elf: And I’ll watch your back.

Tamion: But this is not affection.

Half Elf: Trust me, I know that.

Tamion/Half Elf: We’re all we’ve got, so we will guard each other to the end…

Tamion: But don’t you call….

Half Elf: No, I don’t call you “friend’.

Tamion: Look here, with a little and stick and twine you can make yourself a snare to catch a rodent just like that.

Half Elf: Oh, I see a plant I recognize. If we mush it ‘to a paste it’ll heal your ankle fast.

Half Elf has a bit of rodent, Tamion applies the salve

In the shadows there’s a creature, neither one sees it at all

Inky skin and tentacles, it lurches forward at the pair

Wrapping ‘round Tamion’s waist and lifting him high in the air

No he can’t get free, the monster is too slippery

A tentacle wraps ‘round his neck and squeezes ‘til he barely breathes

Half Elf sees that Tamion’s hammer’s on the floor

But the exit looks much closer than before

If he even waits a moment, Tamion will know death

Tamion: You didn’t wait a moment…

Half Elf: You didn’t have one left.

Tamion: But why show me compassion?

Half Elf: I’ll give you one guess.

Tamion/Half Elf: Could it be, and enemy has turned to friend?…..Nah.
