"Dyelle and the Well" - Lyrics

Dyelle stumbles from the woods

A meadow, the first she’s ever seen

How lovely

Oh, Dyelle…rolling in the grass

It’s greener than any from her past

How funny

A merchant rides up on a horse with a cart

And he says that “The Swampfolk don’t normally leave from the swamp.”

But he’s headed to town if she wants to come with

“Ride with me, the journey isn’t far.”

Adventure, calling out to her

So Dyelle climbs up on the cart

As answer

The village, quaint in how it’s made

But the townsfolk are looking at her strangely

How odd

The centre of town has a large ancient well

And the cart pulls beside it and merchant says

“What do you see?”

So she looks over edge, then he pushes her in

“Monstrous girl, you belong in the dark.”

The bottom of the well branches into catacombs

Fearful now, Dyelle tightly grips her Grandma’s bow

She heads down a hall, careful not to stumble or fall

Rats keep squeaking, the ceiling is leaking

The dark is the darkest that dark’s ever been

She finds a chamber and enters within

There’s a skeleton here with glowing red eyes

And an iron shield and an axe with spikes

And it swings at her neck but she falls back quick

And she thinks to herself

“It can’t end like this.”

Looses three quick arrows at her enemy’s chest

But they can’t break bone and there’s no more flesh

Dodges axe as it hacks makin’ cracks ’til the room starts to collapse

Then a break in the wall

Using her fingertips she rips ’til the stone starts to fall

And the light shines in

As she pulls herself out with a crawl

And she lays in a puddle with her heart beating fast

She didn’t know if she would last

She survived, she’s alive

And adventure’s not just a game that you play

It’s a risk that you take and a test of your strength

Adventure’s not just excitement its also pain, also pain

And she feels it

Subtle changes

She can do this

She can make it
