"Leaving Grimcrest" - Lyrics
Added 2024-10-16 19:16:49 +0000 UTCIn the lesser hills of Grimcrest
Where the goblins tend to live
You could find a tiny shack made out of trash
Inside, you’d find Reuben
He’d be brewing up bug tea
For his pregnant wife who kindly asks
“Before little Martin’s born, can we
run away to a place where he can be
anything he wants?
Cause I love our life
But we’re only picking pockets.
I get, that’s the life of a goblin.
But we didn’t have a choice
and Martin can have a voice.
Love our life, but I want to give him options.
I get, that’s rare for a goblin.
But we didn’t have a choice
and Martin can have a voice.”
In the upper hills of Grimcrest
There’s a goblin marketplace
Where Reuben and wife Nina buy a map
They don’t know the places
Or the languages they see
They pick a pretty city and circle that
Before little Martin’s born, they leave
Late at night with a knife
For their safety
Their hearts are filled with hope
So they leave their life
And don’t have a plan for stoppin’
I get, thats hard for a goblin
But they had to make a choice
So Martin can have a voice
Leave their life
And their Grimcrest problems
I get, thats weird for a goblin
But they had to make a choice
So Martin can have a voice
Days turn into weeks of travel
Living off the bugs and berries
Its almost Martin’s time
But a dark and rainy forest
Is no place to have a baby
They need somewhere to hide
Unexpected to find it, but out in the woods
Theres an old train station
On the platform someone stood
From the shadows behind him
Comes an ebony blade
Poor old chap gets cut in half
As they watch with dismay
A figure in a crimson cloak starts looming over him
The goblins turn to run but then theres more of them
Rain starts pouring heavier
Nina’s breath gets breathier
Holding hands, fast as they can
They try to get away by hopping on a passing train
But it becomes clear
The Watch are gonna catch ‘em here
So Reuben trails behind and draws his knife
While she’s timing her jump right
Reuben looks back at his wife
And thanks the goblin god
Singing, “Goo-roo-roo Oo-roo-roo Ra-ta-ta Ah-ta-ta.”
