Reincarnated in a Shounen Manga - Chapter 260

Chapter 260 - The Winner of The War

Carpy awoke and reveled in the ability to sense, see, and hear once more. These were things one couldn't truly appreciate until they had been taken from them.

He bided his time, allowing his enemies to continue slaughtering one another. Carpy used this time to think some things through.

With his army no longer at his disposal, the war could not be sustained by his efforts alone. Moreover, there was no guarantee that another, perhaps even stronger special ability wouldn't be triggered upon a demon's death, this time activating a strong enough curse to kill him.

As he felt the creatures dying off Carpy discreetly collected their blood, concealing their bodies in a central pool of blood on the island. Almost all the necessary ingredients were now at hand for Master Kon's resurrection.

Master Kon had not been that powerful when he died, especially compared to the monstrous enemies they now faced. His revival should be attainable with the death of a single ultimate-class demon and the sacrifice of the incubator.

When only three individuals remained among the living, Carpy flexed his Ord, exerting an outward pressure to signal his presence. He ascended into the air, with the mermaid accompanying him on her own water platform.

They found themselves in a desolate landscape, surrounded by nothing but scorched rock and sand. A silver-haired woman gasped for breath, her injured comrade struggling to rise beside her.

It appeared that the flame-wielding user had somehow managed to survive it all, a stroke of luck on his part.

On the opposite side of the battlefield stood a green-haired young man, his smile pained. Blood trickled from his lips, and he grappled with regenerating the cursed burn across his shoulder.

The green-haired man turned to Carpy, chuckling weakly.  "It seems like the winner of the war has decided to finally join us. By the way, just to be clear, I wasn't the one who attacked you and caused petrification. So at least spare my life, okay?"

Carpy couldn't help but wonder if the young man possessed the same clairvoyant ability as his mother once had.

Though Carpy recognized the green-haired man, he was perplexed by his demeanor. This was the same being known in the original story as the False God, a creature that instilled terror in humanity and killed off millions of people, a rage incarnate. Yet, his behavior seemed to be quite the opposite.

For the moment, he wasn't the main threat. Carpy shifted his attention toward the silver-haired girl with the dark eyes. For a brief instant, Carpy felt almost entranced by her gaze, but he quickly shook off the hypnotic effect.

'She's a Master, highly skilled in hypnosis as well. Just a gaze into her eyes triggers her technique,' Carpy analyzed.

The mermaid beside him appeared lost in thought, so he took control of the water platform she was floating on and gently turned her away from the silver-haired woman.

Carpy, on the other hand, locked eyes with the silver-haired woman.  "Thanks for reminding me that despite being a dragon, I am not invincible yet."

"Yet?" The silver-haired woman clenched her teeth, narrowing her eyes. "You dragons and your arrogance really know no bounds!"

The island trembled, and in the distance, the water parted, revealing the titanic head of a colossal turtle. Its pressure alone was enough for anyone to have a mental breakdown.

Carpy had never witnessed anything of this magnitude before. But he had sensed the presence of this creature for quite some time, "So you must be Avalon? What a scary demon, I doubt even normal dragons would hold a candle against you."

In response, the turtle opened its massive maw, gathering Ord, and unleashed a blast the size of a mountain toward Carpy. The whole process happened faster than someone could blink.

Carpy glanced at the mermaid by his side, who stared at the approaching attack with wide eyes, paralyzed by fear.

"C'mon now, my wife can't be so scared of small things like this. Where did your guts go?" Carpy joked.

{Perfect Me}

He activated Master Kon's unique ability, and in an instant, thousands of calculations raced through his mind, too quick for him to comprehend.

'Master Kon used this special ability as a learning tool. For me, it functions like a computer that my mind can’t keep up with,' Carpy thought. Perfect Me wasn't nearly as effective when used by anyone other than Master Kon. That's why he planned to return the special ability to him soon.

In a fraction of a second, the blast had nearly reached Carpy. The blast contained more Ord than Carpy could muster, a testament to the Ord that the ultimate class demon had gathered over thousands of years. It somehow had accumulated even more Ord than a dragon, who were demons known for their raw power.

But Perfect Me worked its magic, gathering Ord at the back of Carpy's throat, igniting it, and adding a spinning motion for enhanced piercing. The movements were executed with such precision that Carpy doubted any other dragon could replicate them without using Perfect Me.

As the wind from the incoming blast brushed against him, Perfect Me finally discharged the blazing beam.

While it couldn't compare to the turtle's attack in raw power, Carpy's control more than compensated for it. His fire beam pierced right through the blast, halting it in its tracks, and the fire struck the turtle on the head, causing a massive explosion.

The Perfect Me transformation ended, and Carpy swiftly coiled around the mermaid just as the residual energy from the turtle's blast self-detonated mid-air. The explosion was so powerful that even Carpy's dragon scales trembled.

Despite the magnitude of the explosion, the whole ordeal concluded in a mere dozen seconds, and Carpy emerged unscathed by the after-blast. He examined his own scales and muttered to himself, "Huh, I'm more durable than I thought."

However, the mermaid was now staring at him with tears in her eyes. "Hubby! Are you okay?"

"Yes," Carpy replied simply, cringing slightly at the nickname she had bestowed him. He didn't even know the mermaid's name, but it was clear that she was moving far too quickly.

The land surrounding Avalon Island now lay barren, and fortunately, the blood and bodies he had intended to use as sacrifices were safely stored in a water sphere beneath the sea. They had managed to outlast the aftermath.

In the distance, the turtle released a powerful roar, though it sounded more like a cry of pain. The turtle was massive and possessed an outrageous amount of Ord due to its methods over thousands of years. However, that quantity didn't surpass Carpy's quality.

Preparing another fireblast, Carpy readied himself to finish off the turtle demon. But before he could do so, the turtle demon submerged its head underwater, leaving behind a substantial splash.

Carpy sighed, deciding that seeking revenge wasn't the wisest course of action at the moment. His main objective was not to win wars or battles; he was here to revive Master Kon. If he waited too long, the blood and bodies wouldn't be as effective in the ritual.

But first, Carpy knew he needed to settle some disputes among his enemies to prevent their interference during the revival process. Descending from the sky, he cast his gaze towards the silver-haired woman. Who despite her earlier hatred, there was now a hint of fear in her eyes.

"I told you he was the winner of this," the green-haired man nodded, as if proud of himself. "No matter how we played it. This guy was going to destroy us, which is kind of embarrassing."

Carpy paid no attention to him and instead turned toward the woman. "I will spare your life."

He stated it a bit too benevolently as if he were some kind of saint. In reality, a vindictive woman like her no doubt possessed some special ability that would curse their killer.

Even when she learned that her life was spared, the woman scowled. Yes, she definitely would curse him if she died now.

He wasn't that worried about the curses. But Carpy always kept his eyes on the prize, which was reviving Master Kon, and the curse could hurt him.

"Thank you for your kindness, but I will still kill you, no matter what," the woman declared.

This was confusing to Carpy. Even though she was clearly afraid, it seemed she wasn't scared enough to refrain from threatening him.

Despite her threats, Carpy chuckled. "Don't worry, you will see me die soon enough."

He looked around at the decimated Avalon Island; all the battles and struggles they had gone through with Master Kon were now just memories. When he had gained this strength, Carpy had wanted to carve Master Kon's name into the world. But as time passed, he realized there were more important things than grandiose feelings of rage.

"It seems like I won't be able to keep your promise to blow up an island in your stead, Master Kon," Carpy spoke out loud. Then he glanced at the silver-haired woman. "I will use the deaths caused in this war as a sacrifice to revive a certain someone. If you interfere, I will kill you all and blast this island to smithereens."

The silver-haired woman's eyes widened, and she looked at her companion and then the green-haired man who nodded and said, "Yes. Honestly, you're such a bad counter to my special ability that I am glad you're going to die. Hopefully, you actually die, because with that title of yours, it's really hard to tell."

Carpy chuckled at the man's honesty; he really seemed too different from his original self. It was almost a bit off-putting. But there was no malice in his fate, so Carpy decided to leave the young man alone.

He then controlled the blob of blood, which was the size of a seven-story apartment building, and it hovered above the barren wasteland that used to be Avalon Island.

{Perfect Me}

'Order: revive Master Kon.'

In an instant, Carpy was no longer in control of his own body. His consciousness sank, and he was back in that endless sea of his own mind, where Master Kon was lying there, floating in the water.

Master Kon opened his eyes, as if sensing Carpy's presence, and smiled. "Can't even let a man enjoy his death, can you?"

Carpy chuckled and decided to joke around a bit. "Well, I am just here to tell you that I have found a wife."

That caused Master Kon to widen his eyes and exclaim, "What?! For real?! Just how prolonged is the time dilation here? It didn't even feel like an hour since I last saw you!"
