I actually think Three Cliffs was the location of a Majistraal city that got blown off the map. There doesn't seem to be much of a purpose in a Geomancer sculping cliffs in this manner.

That's a pretty good point. You'd want to avoid ranked areas as much as possible, for most vessels. They could lead to incredibly lopsided battles and death. Navigation would be critically important for most vessels on the sea. Not so coincidentally, an Imperial with sea navigation knowledge and skills just surrendered to Ascension. With this in mind, it's likely one of the reasons the character was introduced.

so we know the range and damage limits rain can do but do we know the physical measurement of si units like lumens temperature force or speed? like how cold is refrigerate, could he create a glacier? we know he evaporated a lake in a swamp, and some geomancer made 3 cliffs. so if rain had a day could he make a island size glacier?

wait so rain is trying to go into the open sea with hundred of un awakened? when even pirate crews of awakened could die to a monster at sea? are any of rains awakened geared towards sea faring? ameliah could always realign her abilities but she wouldnt be as good of a hydromancer as the barge king, or would she be? idk how this is possible for rain to get hundreds of unawakend across the sea without a velika with gear from tallheart, supported by ameliah and rain. construction isnt the issue, shit the ships might be even better the some of the other pirate crews. but those crews are geared to ocean travel and fighting, there is a clear distinction between naval and land battle that shouldnt be underminded. if they go into even a rank 20 zone almost everyone should die unless they unlock another hundred awaken to rank 10 atleast

Every now and again a half or quarter chapter of random soul stuff is fine. Its when you get chapter after chapter where Rain is all "hrrm I did something, dunno what" in his soul with little to nothing happening outside that it gets irritating. Thankfully the author seems to have learned to switch things up here

Yeah, that's really damn impressive. I recently tried to clove an onion in my kitchen. But it just could not be cloven! This must refer to some gold rank level shenanigans. [Seriously what the hell does that word "clove" mean here? I thought that was just the counting word for garlic.]

Where would he allocate his stat points anywhere but clarity? As a pure dynamo (engine of change), he can no longer put stat points (from level ups) anywhere except clarity. Other stats can only be boosted by accolades or equipment like the rings. Did you perhaps mean skill points? If so, Rain still has 4 of those to use as shown in his stat screen this chapter. He is planning on waiting until he unlocks the tier 4 (at least the tier 4s that correspond to his 5 specializations of magical utility, offensive auras, defensive auras, utility auras and aura meta magic ) before using the last 4. Though xp (the volume of what is inside his paling) isn’t Rain’s current issue as he is capped. What is would be fixing and perhaps enlarging his paling when he has purified all chaos in his soul. Though there would be multiple requirements for that such as figuring out how to allow chaotic essence into his soul (the system paling expands and contracts automatically while the paling seal Rain has set up doesn’t, so if Rain replaced his entire paling with his own version without any thought, he may cut himself off from essence and the system in worst case). I think Velika was just waiting for Rain’s office hours to be nearly over so as not to be bothered by others and Fechton thought the same. Still convenient for plot but not unjustifiable in story. I wonder if Velika is gold yet? Even if she isn’t, she should have information on what a gold plate class transfer is since she is a noble and her mom was a badass (thus Rain can use that info for the future).

I definitely think Velika wants a ride as far away from the DKE as possible. And while having a goldplate to help in case something goes wrong is great, she has something else great to offer. Information on how the upgrade to goldplate works. Ameliah lamented one time that goldplates are secretive and she has no info about the next rank. It could be the same as upgrading to silver with specializations and etc, or it could be completely different. We have no idea. And that would play a huge role in Rain's skill choices.

It’s nice that Fechton Stone is a navigator (first star guide should mean navigator that used stars) as that will be handy (plus whatever knowledge he could have on the Empire and their discipline, training and formations). The Vileheart could be what they called Tallheart and Snowlily. I would say it is Velika but he differentiated them from the Vileheart as “they who clove what couldn’t be cloved” (in other words, sliced the ship in two). Well Rain will have to pass Fechton off to another ascension member real quick for safe keeping and deal with Velika. I doubt Rain will have to deal with her sexually harassing him immediately (at least not physically) but she likely will want to hop aboard the boat to the next continent when it’s done. Good news is that she should have premium knowledge on what’s going on in the DKE (at least her aunt shouldn’t cut her off completely) since she has that mind transmitter thing. Plus her strength can act as a safeguard and insurance (wouldn’t be too hard to motivate her as she needs people to sail and she does want her “fourth sword” to be made instead of the crappy “paddle”). Though if she wants a weapon made she will have to abide by Tallheart’s demands of getting materials for his armor and the sword (plus the no kill cervidians thing). I wouldn’t be surprised if Velika intends to head to the city of lights or Ter’Karmark (the place where high king Kev is the ruler, one of three platinum) as both are great places to be for the strong. Well she can deal with some demands from Captain Rain in exchange for some too.

Great ending ! I wonder if Velika will see Ascension as a tool in the war against the empire and try to force them to action ? Also exciting that Rain can now enter soul space, can't wait to see what he will have access to ! I just hope it won't take too much of the chapter and grind the story progression to a halt like the first escapade in the soul did. It is interesting as a side plot and guiding tool, but when 3/4 of a chapter is taken by Rain tinkering in his soul, it can get kind of stale.

Current guess? She wants a ride with them to another continent. She's a wanted person by the DKE. The spike in her chest is a huge liability, and also allows them to track her. The DKE wouldn't be able to afford to send some goldplates to chase her so far away while they're waging war with the Empire.

Great chapter. I love how rain has so much potential right now but also has so much to do. It's a good balance. I hope Rain can put his hate of velika behind him and benefit from her with aome kind of deal. She obviously wants something from him by showing up.

Had to be Velika. Good call on everyone that got that much sooner than I did lol. Vileheart = Tallheart? Velika = "The one that clove what could not be cloven?" The thing that was cloven = Fist of the Progress AKA the Imperial ship? Also what on EARTH do Rain's new stat rings do now? He can use them to debuff his own stats? That's.. somewhat helpful, I guess, especially for a monolith. Though he only has room for 5 stat rings (since 5/10 are for aura synergy) and each one of those complex ones only gives +300. I'd assume less complicated rings would give more stats up to the limit of antantum (500?), so maybe his last two rings are going to be different? Even if they had to be static and to only one stat, I'd want as many stats via equipment as possible. Cause if he goes full malleable+ rings for all 5 remaining slots, he'd only be utilizing 1500/3000 of his current level's max stat equipment allotment.

For the soul, I wonder if grabbing Mana Sight can be made redundant by training his auras while in his soul (though mana sight enables Ameliah to see the spell patterns, which suggest that they manifest in the real world and not in the soul). Additionally, I wonder if he can (already?) pump chaos to purify from outside his soul to grab more xp. For the two political visitors, I wonder if it is narrative convenience or Velika's plotting that made her interrupt his conversation with the Empire's soldier? Also, damnit why didn't he wait to allocate the last stat points for precisely this moment? Now we'll have to wait until the next blue.
