Mean Autonomy Overhaul - Stop Being Assholes!

UPDATE 11/17: the SDX hotfix was postponed, but here is a small update for my own fix, just tweaking the Loyal trait testset to use mine alongside it. This should also likely fix the Technophobe testset bug that's addressed by Kuttoe's fix for mean autonomy; the difference being Kuttoe's adds a testset with an identical ID for those without Snowy Escape, and mine does not but rather adds to the Base Game Loyal testset so the test will fail properly without SE installed. Both mods edit different test sets so, if you don't have SE, you could probably use both should you wish to do so.

So this is apparently a real bug instead of what I thought was just MC Tuner going way too ham on sims being assholes to their friends.

I took it upon myself to wrangle the test set for autonomous mean socials because what business did my sims have insulting someone they were just kissing and having a great time with.

This mod has a new test set inserted just about everywhere in "testSet_MeanSocialsAutonomous" that's present in most, if not all mean interactions' "test autonomous" lists. Now sims who are actually assholes will be assholes, with some custom traits also accounted for (if they have alien/vampire hatred traits from Misery Traits, for example, they'll have no issue autonomously starting shit with the occults they hate so much). Sims with traits like Good or Compassionate will abstain from this autonomy, and sims without any special traits still need to at least have some reason to go about insulting and picking fights.

Comments

The mean autonomy test sets are still in all mean interactions, and the instances haven't changed, so in theory this should still do the trick. If you don't have SE installed, it could be caused by the technophobe test set issue that caused excessive mean interactions last time.

Nathan L

Not sure if you’re still modding or not, but could you possibly update this mod? The mean interactions bug was brought back with the newest patch.

Perfect Cyan

Does this still work with the February update? My sims are being absolute clowns to each other and it's driving me nuts. Been using MCCC to completely disable mean autonomy, but I kinda miss it from random sims who should be mean.

Xelphos

I'd still recommend keeping it in for a safety net, but a few patches ago, ea did attempt fixing this issue This bug wasn't mentioned in any recent patches I know of though

Nathan L

Is this fix still needed December 2023?

Star Zoë

Actually, I have an update: WW decided to reset everything to default values (possibly because I installed Spa Day and Snowy Escape, possibly because I created a new save to create ghost copies of some dead NPCs I was fond of), and although I changed the settings back as soon as I noticed I haven't seen any problems since. Still not sure WHY it wasn't working (some sort of mod prioritization issue?), but it seems to be now and fingers crossed it stays that way. Thanks for trying to figure it out though. And of course, thanks for the mod! It really is a MASSIVE QoL improvement to not have otherwise lovely parents randomly start insulting their children.

JK

I'm very confused, since I cannot recreate this problem...

Nathan L

Doesn't seem to work for me. Have all of the mods enabled but nothing.

Emily Johansson

In most cases, none of the above are applicable. Positive moodlets; high relationship status; no negative sentiments; no mean traits (unless "geek" counts). I've even seen NPCs with the "good" trait just randomly go off on people. If it were just the mean/angry sims doing it I wouldn't think there was a problem. But as it stands, I have to micromanage every interaction just to keep otherwise-healthy relationships from imploding. I was REALLY hoping this mod would be the fix, but for whatever reason, it doesn't seem to have done the job.

JK

What traits do your sims have? What is their relationship? Are they angry?

Nathan L

This one doesn't seem to be working for me, and I can't for the life of me figure out why. I've pulled out everything that seems like it might plausibly cause compatibility issues, but no dice. Are there any known conflicts and/or dependencies?

JK

most likely not because it's tuning, but I recommend enabling script mods anyway because many must-have mods are script based (like MCCC)

Nathan L

thank you so much for this!! if i may ask, does this mod require script mods to be enabled to work?

hauser

You rock!

Tcee's World

Thank you!

Marisa (gfvsims)

Awesome!

Dovelette

this mod only alters the test set, so it shouldn't affect anything directly editing interactions.

Nathan L

Sincerely thank you so much! I'm all for realism but the random and consistent mean/angry actions have been relentless and senseless so highly appreciate this! Hope it doesn't conflict or if it does, that we're able to figure that out - say if it conflicts with MCCC or Chingyu's anonymous social behaviors, etc

Dovelette

THANK YOU for this!!! I have been driving myself batty trying to figure out if it was a mod conflict.
