Okay so at first when your mentioned the literary equivalent of laugh tracks I was like “from what I remember the original Harry Potter books have that too, characters are always choking on their drinks in the great hall.” Then I heard the example. Nothing like *that* is in the books. I haven’t read them in like a decade but I’m confident.
