The Dreaming Door Collaborator's Handbook

My dear patrons,

Congratulations and thank you for supporting our studio at a creative level! As a member at the Creator or Draak-Kin tiers, it is our intention for you to become, if you so wish, not only a patron and consumer of our art but also a contributor.

What do we mean by this?

Standard participation comes in two primary varieties:

Voting. Each month, at least one poll will be featured on the Patreon site. While a few may be just for fun or for informational purposes, at least one will involve selection of something which will actually change the game or affect the production process in a specific way. As a member of the Creator tier or higher, you have the right to make your voice heard.

We will not treat these polls as mere suggestions. We pledge to honor your mandate, and production will be changed in accordance with your choices. Please vote wisely and fairly, so that the finished game will reflect such qualities.

Proposals. At times, we will call for suggestions, submissions, and proposals of a nature that go beyond voting. This may include art, music, writing, or any other kind of creative endeavor. For example, we may ask for designs or suggestions regarding a new character, a new artifact, species, island, or biome. Instructions will be given at that time regarding how to submit.

We may or may not use what you personally suggest... even the greatest Creators sometimes have ideas that just won't work, and we can often only choose one answer to the question we are asking... but all submissions will be respected. The windows for these suggestions will often be limited, and by making a proposal or submission you are agreeing to let us use it in any way we choose. We'll try hard to credit you for it in some significant way, but this is sometimes hard to do, and is not guaranteed.

Please understand that all participation is completely voluntary, and that by participating you are giving forth your ideas freely because it brings you joy and growth, and you wish to share with others. Monetary compensation will never be given in any form, nor is any other form guaranteed by us, but we think you will find that contributing to a new work of art is fun and fulfilling, even if you receive nothing tangible in return.

Short version: anything you share will be considered as belonging to all, and you give up all claim to any kind of exclusive ownership of it. If you are seeking money or fame through your submissions, you will be disappointed. If you are seeking to share your spirit with the world and join with us in creating something beautiful, we promise to do our best by you.

Your participation is cordially invited. We look forward to your contributions, and may you be blessed.

-L
