Our continuing story...

In the summer of 2017, six people gathered in a small classroom and started working on the Golden Treasure project, a new work of art. Their intention was to fulfill the long-held dream of a high school philosophy teacher: the creation of a video game whose purpose was not merely to distract or entertain in the short term, but to communicate something deeper, something beautiful and true.

Though the game had barely any money to work with... $220,000 was the final bill when all was said and done... the project had heart, and everyone gave all they had to it. In June 2019, almost exactly two years of production later, they were ready to release something to the world. It was called Golden Treasure: The Great Green, and though it was imperfect in many ways, it succeeded in its mission.

Despite the aid of professionals and huge amounts of acclaim from those who played it, the game sold only a few hundred copies in the crucial postrelease period. One by one, the team members went their own ways with friendship and fond wishes in their hearts, and the satisfaction of knowing they had made something of real worth together. They stayed in close contact and continued to contribute to and support the project, sometimes for no compensation, simply out of love.

Slowly, the Great Green began to be discovered. Four years later, over 10,000 people have experienced life as one of the great Draak-Kin People. We have received countless heartfelt letters and messages from people all over the world from Bangladesh to Canada about our art and how it has changed perceptions on dragons and other non-human beings, understandings of the place of Life in nature and the universe, and even, in some cases, the lifepaths and destinies of those who played it.

Here, with this Patreon, we hope to begin something new. The next chapter in the Golden Treasure saga, incubating for years, is now ready to be Created in earnest, and through this forum, we hope to make that journey possible and share it with you, not only in the form of news and updates, but in a truly collaborative fashion. So many individuals lost in this new sea of billions created by technology hold creative power in their hearts, but fewer than one in one hundred ever see their visions brought to life and shared with others. It is our intention not to reward our Patrons with only a game, but also an opportunity to Create.
