Chapter 63 Please Let Me Get Out

I don't know why John was so nervous, but the person who was hit by the car had just stood up, holding the front of the car with one hand and cursing angrily. He then pulled out a gun from his waist and pointed it at Arthur, who was driving the car.

Arthur pulled out a gun and handed it to John, then he drew his gun with his left hand and placed it along his thigh outside the car where it couldn't be seen.

With a loud bang, the black man standing in front of the car slammed the hood aggressively and yelled at Arthur while pointing the gun, "Get out of the car! You hit me, damn it..."

The black man who had stood up cursing was soon distracted by the commotion on the sidewalk, and he unsteadily stood up, waving his gun and shouting, "Get him, get him, take him down!"

Dozens of people were chasing and attacking one person, but the person being assaulted was nimbly dodging and weaving through the crowd like a cat.

The man standing in front of the car was blocking it, waving his gun and watching the fight on the sidewalk, while Arthur gripped his gun, nervously ready to open fire at any moment.

At this point, the person being attacked suddenly burst through the blocking crowd. Even though he was surrounded by over a dozen people and his t-shirt was being tugged from behind, he lowered his head and charged forward, the t-shirt instantly tearing, and he shot off like an arrow released from its bow.

At the same time, John said grimly, "Reverse, let's get out of here."

Arthur's shifting wasn't very smooth, but fortunately, it was an automatic transmission, so he quickly engaged reverse gear. But before he could back up, another car blocked their way from behind.

John had shifted into battle mode, and after seeing the car blocking them from behind, he immediately said, "Go forward!"

"There's someone in the way..."

"Ram through!"

Just then, a black figure suddenly darted out from in front of the car. The black man who had just stood up hastily raised his gun, but he was struck by the moving car just as before, flying through the air.

There was a dull thud as the black man on the car's front disappeared, and then many more dark figures came rushing after him.

Arthur's eyes widened as he asked, "What just happened?"

John raised his left hand, sweeping it across the windshield, and said, "A shadow just zoomed by, like the afterimages in cartoons."

"He knocked the obstacle away, wow! You saw that, he knocked him away!"

John had a dumbfounded look as he said, "He was carrying something."

Arthur was shocked because the person who had just blocked the car was now lying in the opposite lane, his gun nowhere to be seen, sprawled out motionless on the ground.

"Can we leave now?"

"No, it's safe now, but if we leave it'll be hit-and-run. Call the police, but oh no, he's coming back!"

Arthur quickly turned his head to see the black man who had just escaped now rushing back, like a black bolt of lightning, pouncing at the group chasing him.

Weaving left and right, he shoved one person aside, then ran back into the street, flashing in front of Arthur's car before suddenly stopping and running back again.

Under Arthur's gaze, the shirtless black man delivered a vicious kick to the one trying to get up from the ground.

"Wow!"

"So brutal."

"But quite satisfying."

"Yeah, yeah."

The muscular shirtless black man turned to run away, but after taking a few steps to the right, he suddenly spun around and charged back into the crowd again with another savage assault.

Even from inside the car, they could hear the thuds of the impacts. John shrugged his shoulders angrily and shouted, "Treating this like a crosswalk, going back and forth, wow, now that's intense!"

"So agile, so strong, did you see what he's carrying in his left hand? That's a bag!" Arthur looked towards the nearby stores and exclaimed, "Ah, a free-for-all!"

At the front of the car, two people were struggling, and then two others stopped to try and help them up.

If the people in front of the car pull out guns, Arthur can ram the car forward. If they point guns at Arthur, he can just ram them without hesitation, and John can also shoot back from inside the car.

John was urgently telling Arthur to get his gun ready, because he saw the person they had hit starting to pull out a gun, so he needed to be prepared for self-defense.

John said in a low voice, "Keep your eyes on them. If they pull out guns, you ram the car forward. If they don't have guns or aren't pointing them at us, don't ram them."

This raises a legal issue of whether it would count as emergency evasion. If the people blocking their path don't have guns, then no matter what they are doing - fighting or robbing - they are not directly threatening Arthur's safety, so if he rams them, he'll be in trouble.

One person got out in front of the car and pulled out a handgun, firing a shot, but he was aiming at the person who had been repeatedly ramming the car.

John and Arthur exchanged a glance, and Arthur pressed the gas pedal hard, but the car let out a roar without moving.

The black man who had fired the gun was terrified since Arthur stomping on the gas had made the engine noise so loud.

The black gunman jumped in fright, looking at Arthur and John in the car with a terrified expression, his hands reflexively drawing in, looking almost like a scared little girl if not for his very ugly appearance.

John yelled angrily at Arthur, "You idiot! It's in drive, not neutral!"

"Sorry, sorry, drive!"

Arthur wasn't afraid, but John's spit had sprayed all over his face and he was a bit flustered from being yelled at, but he quickly shifted into drive.

Being in the drive was the right thing, but in his flustered state, with a gun in his left hand and trying to shift with his right while there was a gunman in front of the car and an angry John next to him, Arthur forgot to step on the brake when he shifted.

The car lurched forward and stalled out, but it only went a short distance before stopping.

The older black man in front was startled again, jumping and letting out a shrill scream.

It felt like a long sequence of events, but it was just over 10 seconds. Summarizing: Bang, whoosh, whoosh, thud, whoosh, thud thud, click, bang, roar, ahhh, roar, ahh!

After all that, Arthur's car had stalled out, blocking the road. The black man with his arms drawn in reflexively suddenly snapped back, pointing his gun at Arthur and yelling, "Get out! You...ugh!"

Arthur didn't move, but John swiftly raised his gun, aiming at the armed black man in front, ready to shoot to defend their lives. But before he could fire, a dark figure flashed by and the black gunman disappeared.

John looked dumbfounded, and Arthur's mouth hung open. After a moment, they stared at each other, both seemingly just as confused.

"So fast!"

"Yeah, way too fast...drive, you idiot! You can't even drive! Start it! Start it! Fuck! Brake and start it!"

John realized that the person in front was gone, and someone had fired a gun, so if they just drove off now it wouldn't be considered fleeing. The only thing to do was guide this new driver.

"Don't yell! The more you yell the more flustered I get!"

Arthur was getting desperate - he just wanted to get out of the car and shoot everyone, not have to drive with this yelling passenger.

Finally, the car started, at least being automatic so no stalling on take-off. But the speed was still slow.

"Floor it! Accelerate!"

Arthur had had enough. "I can't drive over people! Can you stop yelling? You're making me so nervous!"

He weaved carefully through the people who had been knocked down, relieved not to have hit anyone. Just as he was about to floor it and gun it, the back door suddenly flew open and a massive figure shoved its way into the car.

"Drive! They're going to shoot, if you don't want to die, just drive!"

Arthur instinctively pressed the gas pedal, then hurriedly placed the gun on his lap, gripping the steering wheel tightly with both hands and shouted, "Close the car door!"

John looked back and then angrily said, "Doesn't this car have automatic door locks? What a piece of junk!"

The person in the back quickly closed the door, urgently yelling, "Hurry up and drive!"

Someone was banging on the window and trying to open the door, but the person who had gotten into the car suddenly pulled the door closed again.

The car's speed finally picked up, and the people chasing the car were quickly left behind. At this point, Arthur yelled, "Does this count as a kidnapping?"

John roared, "Yes, we've been kidnapped! There's surveillance footage and evidence, you can do whatever you want! Why are you yelling at me? Why are you shouting?"

"You two shut up!"

"You shut up!"

"No, you shut up!"

Arthur and John could fight each other, but they had to present a united front to the outside. After the two of them had silenced the person in the backseat, Arthur angrily said, "If you hadn't been yelling, would I have been yelling? Don't you know I'm a rookie? You scared the hell out of me!"

The passenger angrily said, "Shut up, and stop the car after the next turn!"

John turned back and yelled, "You shut up!"

The large black man in the backseat was yelled at and leaned back, then he became extremely angry and was about to try to physically persuade them, but suddenly a gun was extended from the front seat.

"I'm sorry, excuse me, please stop the car ahead, I want to get off, please let me get off..."

John's eyes were blazing, and with the persuasion of the handgun, the passenger in the backseat quickly made the right choice, switching to polite language. But he still didn't realize the seriousness of the situation.
