Play Date

Shout out to patreon member FivesTheFifth for supporting me ❤️ here's her request for January. Two of the Noceda-Blight kids have a play date! So cute!

Olivia sits down on the squishy rug in the playroom, her little tail wriggling. Avalyn Noceda-Blight makes silly noises while she lifts up the big bucket.

CRASH!

Ava dumps the blocks alllll over the floor! The both of them giggle as Ava drops to the rug beside her. Olivia leans in and starts grabbing the colorful wooden blocks.

“What should we build?” she asks.

“I‘unno. A castle?” Ava offers. Olivia watches as Ava grabs all the pink blocks she can find. Olivia curls her tail in (so no one accidentally steps on it!) and nods.

“Yeah! A castle! A big one!” Olivia chirps in agreement. She starts grabbing her favorite color of block too, since Ava’s putting in her best. She grabs all the green blocks she can find, some of them are arches, some of them are wide flat pieces, some are smaller cubes. Before she knows it they have all the blocks they want.

“Let’s make some room.” Ava says. Olivia’s best friend spins a big circle of light, and she stops herself from eating it. Even though it looks really tasty! Mom and Mama said that eating other people's magic is rude, and she doesn't want to be rude to Ava! They’re half sisters! Instead, she slithers over to her bag, and grabs a long wooden wand. It’s an extremely beat up training wand, dozens and dozens of teeth marks pocket its once smooth surface. It’s tasty. “Are you hungry Olivia?” Ava asks, “We can get a snack first.”

“M’okayyy.” Olivia answers, moving back to her spot. “Just wanna chew some magic.”

“Okie!” Ava says, “I’m gonna start making da-the castle!” True to her word, Ava starts placing blocks, building up a large rectangular structure. The blocks are slightly enchanted, and they stick together when you want them to. Olivia watches for a few minutes, suckling and nibbling on her training wand. Eating magic makes her feel all cozy and calm, she likes it. Her tail starts to swish. She puts the wand down, and grabs a few green blocks.

“What should we call it?” Olivia asks while she starts building the second story.

“Mmmmm… Castle…” Ava says, humming while they keep building. Olivia grabs an arch and makes a little gate for the outer wall, while Ava builds a tiny tower. “I dunno! What do you think??” Ava asks. Olivia thinks, and thinks. She looks at their castle, it’s pink and green. All at once it comes to her.

“Ooo! Ooo! Remember the last time we all went to Abuela's house?” She asks, her entire body wriggling. Ava waves her arms and hums loudly.

“MHMMM!”
“What if we called it Watermelon Castle?” Olivia asks, “Like that fruit.”

“LIKE THE FRUIT!” Ava shouts, and they both squeal. Olivia’s so excited, she always is when she plays with Ava. “So are the people who live here watermelons?”

“Yeah! And they grow watermelons in the fields. That’s where their watermelon babies come from.” Olivia chirps, shuffling closer to her best friend as they continue talking. They build up their fruit kingdom, and build more and more things all over the playroom. Outside, Lucia leans against the wall next to the playroom door, smiling before she walks back to the kitchen.
