Now we're getting to the real meat of this explorable explanation! In the above GIF, you'll see an evolving ecosystem of players – cheating dominates in the short run, but the long run, fairness wins.
(For a higher quality version, I also posted an .mp4 on Twitter)
Thank you again so much for your feedback on the Patreon-exclusive prototype! It really helped a lot – specifically, as you can see above, I've switched from narration to plain ol' text, and that had made development so much quicker.
Also, I mentioned that I attended a couple conferences the last two weeks! The first one was in Massachusetts, about communicating science to a broad audience. And the second one was in Virginia, about depolarizing American politics. (By a tragic coincidence, that conference started not just in the same state, but the same day that senator was shot. That moment really highlighted what's at stake, re: political polarization.)
Those meetups were really meaningful, and I still want to share with you what I've learnt, through a couple mega-blog-posts I'm writing! (still writing) Look forward to those, too.
. . .
Also – I just wanted to apologize that The Evolution of Trust has been taking so long. :( I made the mistake of skipping the proper prototyping phase, and thus, I found myself in a few dead ends, development-wise. It was only after sharing my prototype with all of you, that I was able to get out, and find a better path. So, I'm sorry – but also thank you!
