How To Simulate The Universe, In 134 Easy Steps

http://ncase.me/OVC2016/

Here's the word + picture version of a talk I gave a few days ago at OpenVisConf! (a gathering of art/tech peeps who do data visualization, you know, charts and stuff) My talk was about systems and simulations – and how they can make us more empathetic, more empowered, or at least, give us a deeper understanding of the world! Or something like that.

I just plugged this page into a word count tool, and apparently it's 3800+ words(?!) That's, wow, more than my explorable explanation, Simulating The World In Emoji (2400+ words) or my long-ass essay about how we activists are doing things wrong (2800+ words) If it took me half an hour to say all those words, it'll probably take you about ~20 minutes to read it. Just a heads up for what you're gonna get yourself into.

And unlike my last two talks, (at EyeO and at XOXO) this one has actually practical advice, for any of you who are interested in systems thinking or simulation! Don't worry, the talk isn't technical at all – I always had you fantastic fans and sweet supporters in mind~

Hope you enjoy!
