Secondhand Sorcery — Magic Items
Added 2024-01-04 05:57:46 +0000 UTCWhen I wrote a shop for The Seeker's Guide to Enchanting Emporiums, I pitched three different shop concepts. The editor ended up selecting The Hedgerow, which left two shop concepts unwritten. This is one of them!
Secondhand Sorcery is a charity shop that sells gently used and refurbished magic items to benefit the local magic school for underprivileged children. In this PDF, you'll find eight magic items, each with a flaw or unpredictable element as a result of their wear and tear. Three of them also come with related quest hooks. You'll also find a full character description and set of traits for Miss Pennycress, the tiefling shopkeeper, who teaches part-time at the magic school and is herself an alumnus.
You guys probably know by now how much I enjoy creating items that have benefits as well as disadvantages! I think it's a fun way to not just make magic items more interesting, but also more reasonable to grant to lower level tables without completely skewing your game balance.
This PDF is free for Di-votee Patrons and available for individual purchase for anybody else who wants to check it out!
