Something from TCJ

The Patreon has been quiet for the last month because I have been moving into a new house and it has thrown up some challenges that, I am sure, will find their way into "the work", so I will not detail them here. I had a few weeks off just to concentrate on moving/phoning up people who could deal with an excess of dirty water approaching from several directions, but now am slowly working my way back into action mode.

Today I have a really great piece about the history of webcomics, and The Great British Bump Off in that context, from The Comics Journal's Tegan O'Neil. I think you will find it relevant to your interests, so please take a look. It's a good and deep read.

I've just finished drawing Steeple 18, and with #19 scripted and roughed out, I now turn my attention to the follow-up to Bump-Off. Like last year, it means a month's break from drawing pages, which I don't like taking, but it's important to get my head right into what I'm doing. I'm no multi-tasker. I'm a uni-tasker. A unit asker.

More soon! I've got all kinds of behind the scenes sketches from recent Steeples to share.

Comments

When someone who's writing about comedy is capable of phrases like "a hard-bitten older male judge with an eyepatch stands like someone stuck a ramrod up Trafalgar Square", it shows they really know what they're talking about.

Nice article, which gets at many things I like about your comics. It also reminded me that I only know from reading TGBBO that there is a movie version of Under the Skin. I'd only known it as a book (which was weird, but enjoyable).
