Preparing for SGR25 pt 1

On September 10th it will be the 25th anniversary of the first "Bobbins" comic being published. I'd like to celebrate this with a fulsome programme of events but as always, I have had no time to prepare anything and as a result, this epochal moment will pass with only the sound of a damb squib being stamped upon. I've not even started the commemorative jigsaw puzzle design.

At best I will write an essay, an essay overshadowed by a powerful awareness that a. I was very lucky and b. promoting my work has never been harder so c. I should have done better on this special occasion. But at least I remembered it was the 25th anniversary before it happened, unlike the 10th anniversary or the 20th. It's progress!

Fortunately, ChatGPT can step in here and help me out. But what to do? First up, a new Scary Go Round adventure with all the things long term fans like! I don't really remember what they liked, but I'll guess.

[I preface this by saying that at first ChatGPT claimed Shelley Winters wasn't a character in Scary Go Round, but then when I insisted it was, the AI remembered, and apologised. Weird times.]

Me: I am the creator of the webcomic Scary Go Round. If I was to make a new story about Shelley Winters and Amy Chilton, what could it be about? The story should be sexy and dangerous.

ChatGPT:
Title: "Sinister Seduction"

Synopsis: Shelley Winters and Amy Chilton find themselves entangled in a web of intrigue and forbidden desires when they stumble upon a secret society in their town of Tackleford. Drawn into the dark underbelly of the town, they discover an underground world filled with seductive characters, hidden desires, and dangerous secrets.

As Shelley and Amy delve deeper, they uncover a series of mysterious disappearances that lead them to a charismatic and enigmatic figure known only as "The Temptress." This seductive mastermind uses her allure and charm to manipulate and control those who fall under her spell.

Driven by a mix of curiosity and personal stakes, Shelley and Amy must resist the temptations that surround them while navigating through a labyrinth of dangerous encounters and deceitful alliances. As they inch closer to the truth, they realize that their own desires and vulnerabilities may be their biggest obstacles in unraveling the mystery.

"Sinister Seduction" is a thrilling tale that explores themes of desire, power, and the blurred lines between passion and danger. It showcases the strength and wit of Shelley and Amy as they navigate through an unpredictable world, testing the limits of their friendship and their own identities.

Me: I love this! Please could you come up with new catchphrases for Shelley and Amy? They should be short and snappy.

[ChatGPT took three whole minutes to spit the following heartbreaking works of staggering genius out]

ChatGPT:
Shelley Winters:

  1. "Adventure awaits!"
  2. "Danger's my middle name!"
  3. "Rule-breaker extraordinaire!"
  4. "Chaos is my playground!"
  5. "No fear, all fun!"

Amy Chilton:

  1. "Brains and brawn!"
  2. "Outsmarting danger, daily!"
  3. "Calculating moves, winning grooves!"
  4. "Fearless and focused!"
  5. "Master of clever escapes!"

___

Now while the plot is merely scanty, the catchphrases are terrible. But the joy of ChatGPT is to think of it as an idiotic collaborator who will just try and try and try but never outshine you. So my new catchphrases are:

SHELLEY

1. "Immolation awaits!"
2. "Dwaynger's my middle name!"
3. "Ruler-breaker extraordinaire!"
4. "BeOS is my playground!"
5. "All fear, no fun!"

AMY

1. "Brains and bran!"
2. "Outfarting danger, daily!"
3. "Calculating skives, winning jives!"
4. "Fearful and unfocussed!"
5. "Master of furtive masturbation!"

See, this is easy. I will return with more of this new, SGR25 event, soon, as the work of creation truly begins.

Comments

If no-one uses the word "busfuckers" in anger, I ain't buying it. (Happy 25 years, by the way!)

Congratulations on the anniversary! I've adored SGR in its various forms over the years, and it's wonderful to see how you're a Big Time Comics Man now. You've earned it!
