Added 2020-08-07 16:18:45 +0000 UTCA couple of years ago I made a series called By Night - all three volumes are currently available. By Night was produced under pressure, and remains the weirdest thing I've ever made. It featured a troll who was obsessed with the 1980s and many other beasts, all rendered with great expertise by Christine Larsen.
When I finished work on the Steeple limited series in September last year, I explored working on a By Night spin-off with a slightly different approach and tone, called Spectrum. I came up with four issues worth of plot and scripted the first issue, but I was out of creative goose, and the project felt like it was going nowhere - work for work's sake that I didn't particularly care about - so these five pages are as far as I got. I wrote the whole comic in my sketchbook, fully roughing it out as I went, and that satisfied all the interest I still had left in the By Night world. It was time to move on.
