Hairy biking

I've long been aware of TV chefs "The Hairy Bikers" but have only recently watched their TV show. My interest in them was piqued when I saw the pair of them staring on a street corner in Soho, suited and booted in their trademark apparel, standing as if for a publicity photo - clearly waiting for a car pickup but also very keen that people should be looking at them. No one was looking at them except me, and they looked ridiculous.

This is exactly what they looked like:

(Except in Soho at about 8.30 at night.)

The Food Network have been rerunning the old Hairy Bikers shows on a loop during lockdown, so I tuned in. Oh boy. No wonder these two simpletons have to stand like shop mannequins when they are awaiting instructions. They don't have minds. Here are the cursory notes I took on one particularly edifying episode, where they stood in a Sussex chef's kitchen flapping their lips needlessly at a working man (mostly repeating what he said back to him) before universally disappointing a dining room of patrons. I only drew the the less aggressive looking one, I found the other one too scary to render (I suspect he is a "biter") but I might try again next week.

The Hairy Bikers, Food Network UK, all day, weekdays

If I suggest the other one looks like the (hypothetical) younger brother of Billy Connelly, does that make him less scary, or moreso?

I sadly remember the Hairy Bikers all too well, and their brief but total domination of the UK. This post really made me laugh
