The Seleucids - Epic Music
Added 2025-03-07 01:59:30 +0000 UTCEarly release of a song I made about the Seleucid dynasty, one of the successor states of Alexander's Empire that ruled over Iran and the previous lands of the Achaemenid Empire. The music is a mixture of modern Iranian music with Ancient Greek music, featuring Ancient Greek instrumentation such as aulos, pan flutes and lyres.
The modes used are microtonal modes of current Iranian music dating back to the Middle-Age, as well as enharmonic modes of Ancient Greek music heard in the middle part of the song. The enharmonic genus was a category of mode already widely unpopular and dying by the 4th century B.C, so what you're hearing there is a form of melody that was already deemed old fashioned 2300 years ago.
The lyrics are in Old Persian, Ancient Greek, and Akkadian.
