In my opinion on why Makoto uses her contact lenses is because she is searching this "The Crawler" guy around campus WHILE she attend college. And it is because she wants guys attracted to her and be her bodyguard that's why her friends or classmates in the cafeteria said "Makoto, you going after the younger ones now?" And from that I could tell that she's been doing this before for a lot of times. And also she's Koichi's senpai because he said she was upperclassman when he told to Knuckle/Iwao.
