Alundra: The Zelda Successor That Wasn't Meant to Be

Hello folks,

Just a quick update on what you can expect in the near future. I've been recovering from an illness the past week so had to skip my livestream, and am waiting until my voice recovers before recording the monthly Patrons-Only vlog, but that should be coming up here soon, I hope.

My next video will be about the underappreciated Playstation 1 title, Alundra. A Zelda-like of sorts that featured an engaging storyline that was surprisingly dark at times, and incredibly challenging dungeons and puzzles. Its plot is that you play an elf which gains the strange ability to enter people's dreams and save them from madness or the dark forces preventing them from waking. It has a lot of the standard Zelda fare like cutting through bushes to collect money and health, bows, bombs and such, but its in the uncanny storytelling and level design that this game becomes a wholly new and interesting experience.

Though the game may have lost a little bit of its sheen over the years, especially now that everyone has been enraptured by the latest open-world Zelda title, I still think this title has some inspirational aspects and mechanics that many other games could learn from today.

I will also be exploring its origins as a spiritual successor to the Sega Genesis title Landstalker, as well as its controversial and disconnected sequel, Alundra 2 -- which abandons the setting of the original completely and switches to a clunky 3D presentation, which in my opinion sealed the fate of the series, sadly. I'm about a third or so through the game and the script, but hope to wrap up pre-production over the next week and the completed video out early in March.

I hope that this is an interesting topic to you all, and if you have any questions or feedback on my channel so far, let me know!

Thank you so much for supporting my work, it means the world to me.
