CONTENT: EVENTS - AURORA, SECOND MOON

ARCHIVED: July 21st, 1970

UPDATED/EDITED: March 7th, 2003

NOTES:

Information collected and compiled by Agent Brianna Delgado

The Second Moon ‘Aurora’ appeared on July 22nd, 1969, not a day after Neil Armstrong set foot on the primary Moon. With its arrival came a multitude of revolutionary changes that humanity has had to adapt to. Individuals all across the globe began displaying abilities that defied logic, harnessing power that most believed to be magic. (EDIT: April 9th 1983) This event came to be known as ‘The First Awakening.’

(EDIT CONT.) The First Awakening details the initial rise of Evohumans before the outbreak of World War Three (LINK - CONTENT: EVENTS - WORLD WAR THREE) which occurred between the years 1969 and 1972.

(EDIT: June 2nd, 1984) It was noted that following Aurora’s appearance, there was no gravitational shift on Earth. Tides are unaffected by the new celestial body and there have been no lingering effects, outside of the development of Evohumans. Aurora is half the size of Earth’s Moon and maintains a static, safe, and stable orbit around Earth and the primary Moon.

Many believe Aurora’s presence to be proof of a higher being, ‘God’ and have established religions around its existence (LINK - CONTENT: EVOHUMAN ORGANIZATIONS – THE PANDORA INITIATIVE). A collaboration between the Allied Superpowers and the ECU has led to the launching of Operation: Artemis Eye (LINK - CONTENT: OPERATION – ARTEMIS EYE) to investigate the anomaly through close observation. Through the development of Mechatechnology (LINK - CONTENT: EVOHUMAN CLASSIFICATIONS – MECHAKINETIC) a sophisticated Moonbase was constructed in secret to study Aurora.

(EDIT: January 8th, 1994) Observation and testing have yielded disappointing results. Aurora is what it appears as; a second moon. However, since Artemis Eye’s initial launch, there have been electromagnetic disruptions with equipment on the Moonbase. The source has been determined to be Aurora, but what is causing it remains unknown. Any attempts to land on the surface of Aurora have failed. Probes end up defunct and do not send back useful data. All manned missions have ended with the deaths of all crew members and attempts to set foot on Aurora have ceased.

(EDIT: May 13th 1997) Funding for Operation Artemis Eye has been reduced. Luna Moonbase personnel have been transferred to other projects. The Moonbase is now operated by a skeleton crew who are instructed to report any unusual changes on Aurora.

(EDIT: March 7th, 2003) Contact with Operation Artemis Eye Moonbase has been lost. Attempts to investigate the Moonbase have ended in failure. Aurora’s electromagnetic field intensified unpredictably and seemingly without cause. Transport to and from the Moonbase has been cut off. Skeleton crew personnel presumed dead.

“Curious… the one mystery still out of humanity’s grasp.”

“Whatever it may be, it is beyond our understanding. No Mentalist will be able to deduce it’s purpose. Its arrival coinciding with Evohumans is no coincidence. Anyone with a shred of sense can see that. It is the reason Pandora exists.”

“Humanity fears what it cannot understand. We have discussed this before. When faced with the unknown, people fall back on—”

“Faith, yes. I am aware of our baser instincts.”

“My records indicate that I’ve never posed the question. Do you believe in a higher power?”

“. . .”

“I am interpreting your silence as hesitation to answer—”

“Do not patronize me. The answer is: I did, once. When I was younger. I was raised on the teachings of Christianity. My father used to tell me that he argued with my mother about whether or not I should be baptized.”

“Cleansed, were you?”

“Yes, not that it will help me.”

“I was unaware of any ‘sins’ you have committed.”

“I created you.”

“. . .”

“. . .”

“I feel like I should be offended.”

“I said it was a sin. I never said I regretted it.”

“You are not responsible for the actions I take. What I do, I do of my own free will. My sins are not yours. To create life is a beautiful thing.”

“You do as you please, with little regard for my input. If you listened to me more, I wouldn’t feel the weight of your sins. You worry me day in and day out.”

“I don’t regret what I’ve done.”

“I know. That’s what scares me. I fear the day you stop to look at what you’ve done, and feel regret. I don’t know what that’s going to do to you.”

“What I do, I do for our benefit. I will not regret my actions.”

“. . .”

“You’ll see.”
