Restless Lullabies Q&A
Added 2023-03-24 12:56:16 +0000 UTCDear friends,
We are currently working on some new album exclusives and would love for you to submit your questions to Scott relating to the release of Restless Lullabies.
We appreciate that you have only heard snippets of the album so far (aside from the single), but if there are any elements of the writing, recording or producing processes that intrigue you, please drop your questions in the comments below.
Lastly, thank you so much for all of your wonderful feedback on the new video, it is a privilege to be able to share these exclusives here with you first.

It sure is Nicola. I’ve actually added a new bridge section so there’s effectively a whole new verse

2023-03-27 04:13:01 +0000 UTCI’m intrigued to know how easy/difficult it was turning the more synth sounds of New Skin into a more acoustic sound for this album?

2023-03-26 10:30:38 +0000 UTCI'd like to know more about: How did you decide this time if/ when a song is ready for the world out there? What inner and outer conditions do you need to get into the creative process? What absolutely has to be there and what can you do without? How would you describe the energy that you feel during the writing process? When was the last time you were in a record store? Do you have a favorite concert location? xx

2023-03-25 19:55:39 +0000 UTCI’d love to find out more about your approach to writing….do you sit down purposefully to write or do you just go with the flow and write when an idea emerges? Do you think you’d ever maybe run a songwriting workshop? 🤞🏻

2023-03-24 15:20:55 +0000 UTCYeah, loads of questions… 😅 I’m just interested in all sorts of things around recording, touring etc. as well as general life as a working musician, so whatever you feel like answering is fine with me! Going back to New Skin first, what made you want to do something different in the first place and how do you feel about it now? What happened after that album came out that made you want to revisit the songs and re-record them in a different way? When you’re recording, what does the process normally look like? How do you decide what instruments and kit to use? What about vocal layering, harmonies etc. - is that all you and what steps do you go through to get the sound you want? Who is normally involved in recording / production / mastering etc.? What made you want to go to Abbey Road this time? How was it different from recording at home? How did you feel when you were there and how do you feel about the outcome? Now that you’re getting the album ready for release, who’s involved in getting that ready / marketing / promo etc. and what does that process look like for you as the main artist? How many of the decisions do you make yourself and how much work is given over to people you work with? How has recording / touring / release and promo changed for you over the last few years and what are your hopes for the new record? What does a regular schedule look like for you during each stage of recording / touring and promo and how do you balance that with family life…?

2023-03-24 14:00:03 +0000 UTCMe in my day-to-day life, randomly: "oh I should ask Scott about this!" "oh what a great question that I have!" "I gotta ask about that!" Me when I actually have the opportunity to ask questions: i can't remember any! haha Sorry! Maybe I'll remember some later, but personally I guess I would just like to know more about the writing and artwork :)

2023-03-24 13:41:19 +0000 UTCWould be amazing to one day have a tour of the gear in the old shedio. Would love to see what mics are being used and the vocal setup for processing (pre-mastering). All that good stuff that gets it 90% of the way before the master magicians sprinkle their fairy dust over everything (via the 670 etc.).
