EARLY ACCESS: "Music Video VFX Magic With ATARASHII GAKKO!"

**NOTE: There's something wrong with the Patreon/Vimeo integration at the moment and I'm very sorry. If the embed is not working for you, please re-check in a bit. I am trying to fix it continuously**

I'm not sure how to even begin to introduce this video, so I'll just let you go into it cold. Best way to watch most things!

This may end up being unusually-early access because we're still working out some, uh, technicalities on the YouTube side. But I wasn't willing to delay it any longer for you, infinitely patient patrons!

Please enjoy.

(PS: If you're at Comic-con, they're doing a show tonight.)

Amazing ! - seeing this makes me love being your Patreon and inspires me so much! Incredible hard work went into making this!

Per Kofod Hansen

I need to make a movie about the origin of captain disillusion , if you make that I would love to watch

siddhartha reddy

Such a delightful video I felt I should toss in a couple of bucks to show my appreciation!

Martin Berglund

Absolutely amazing how many layers there are to these videos. Even this video you made to explain how you made the videos deserves a video on how you made it. So many details!

ginger

My experience exactly. Long time lurker, first time supporter.

Florian Bredl

Long time Patreon member bust just noticing this now. What a fantastic collaboration Project! Loved it all but my favorite was Candy. SUGAR HIGH. sugar low.

Richard Holdman

I've been a sub for years but after watching this video I was like "damn these are the best 20 minutes I've had on youtube in years, I want to give this guy some money"

Gulag

It is comforting to watch cap d. I feel like watching your videos like a kid. Just saying I think It's better to hire more people and make these videos more frequently like a production company Just think about it

siddhartha reddy

How was I not a patron already? Well, now I am. The word "epic" has become over-used but this video actually fits the bill. Hope my 5 bux somehow soothes the pain of all that rotoscoping at least a little bit

kalleboo

Amazing stuff, very inspirational!

Rob Sedgebeer

Just... Wow. It feels like you only just scratched the surface of how this was made though. How did you find Atarashi Gakko? How did you come up with the ideas for the videos? When did you become so good at Blender and what did all those words mean?

Nope

Very cool, super funny, thanks for all that hard work.

Alexandre Devilliers

This is unreal. YouTube does not deserve you. Please let us know what's going on with the "technicalities" of posting this.

Coleman Watts

I really like the look of the stop-motion look of the Candy video and love the creative approach in how it was done.

Brandon Dilbeck

Absolute legend. Hats off you, my friend!

Gabriel Bienczycki

Oh my god, you outdo yourself every single time I swear.

Tomáš Mládek

Just wow, I see Im putting my money into a good place 😉

SlamWeasel

You somehow managed to fit a wonderful movie-length feature into 22 minutes of video. I do not know how you did it but it was fantastic. BRAVO, well worth the wait!!

Erin Flanagan

Amazing job! Simply amazing. Going in cold was amazing. I can't wait to watch it a few more times then watch it again after I forgotten everything about it. With movies you have behind the scenes how it was made but I rarely see it with music videos

Christopher Mayfield

Genius.

Daniel Kohl

Amazing video, it's clear an incredible amount of effort went into it, and I'm even more convinced you're a genius after seeing the breakdowns of everything. I also love the showcase of incredibly creative music videos throughout the years, many of which I'd never heard of. Some left me amazed. Astounding work!

Darion Dodge

I can’t wait to watch this. Me and my friends are literally waiting till tomorrow to have a watch party. Lol. Theses comments look great and promising. I can’t wait!

DRUMMINGCYBORG .

Brilliant! I dread to think how much stuff had to be filmed and VFX'd for the side-gags alone

Tom Clabon

This video did not feel like 22 minutes and was extremely enjoyable! I also love how the breakdown/explanation leads into the final result rather than the traditional debunk format of showing the final result then breaking it down given this was a behind-the-scenes on how the VFX was made rather than a traditional debunk. The Captain never fails to impress with how much work he must have put into editing together the visual and audio elements of these explainers and my jaw is on the floor every time! Bravo!!!

YJ Choi

This is just incredible, the amount of effort this must have taken completely blows my mind. And it's delivered so perfectly, in such an engaging fashion, my mind blows for a second time. Bravo!

Chris Carline

A few minutes in and already the pineapple projectile had me laughing so much! This video was certainly worth the wait!

YJ Choi

Man this is an incredibly special video! I never would have expected this, but it’s super good! It’s great!

Daveed Ben dov

Incredible. More than worth the wait, Captain.

Seth Wrinkle

Holy heck, you're doing all the work that takes pages and pages of credits roll in any other production. What an amazing collab!

Merijn Vogel

All your hard work shows! Great collab…

J.D. Robinson

Daaaaaamn, Captain. Once again you prove yourself to be the hardest-working person on YouTube. What a wonderfully fun video.

James Dominguez

Fake: Cinefex 170 only has 112 pages. (But seriously, that two-second gag took me about five minutes to fully appreciate! I was laughing as soon as I saw the Benguiat and Gill Sans Italic.)

Greg Joughin

Holy shit man, this is incredible.

naota3k

you are insane! great work! really really worth the wait! thank you!

Amir Saboury

Gooood grief, and I thought the Flight of the Navigator video was ambitious. This is incredible!

RBM

He Returns! Edit: rather, he was with us all along, rotoscoping 😂 All the projects were amazing, but the second one in particular knocked it out of the park!

Jared Thomas aka The J Podcast

Excellent video! Thank you very much!

Cory Gerrits

Wow. Just. just. just. Wow.

David Whitney

Great work, love the candy sequence.

Adric Macht

Plays for me, but for some reason didn't preview (just displayed as a blank frame). Nice work. Is YT really going to block *a project the band themselves actively made with you*? Google, pay attention!

Carl Fink

One suspects that's the "technicalities" the Captain was referring to.

Carl Fink

That was excellent! Thanks!

Salt Teddy

Hey! I remember that Python code. :) Glad it got some use. :)

Boyd Stephen Smith

Wow!! No wonder it took so long, that was incredible!

Stevie257

👀

Oasty

Loved it. Really great. The narration of all the ingredients of an effects shot has a cadence that reminds me of the Baking Show hosts detailing what will go into a big bread sculpture of a green screen stage.

Rob Schultz

Really fantastic, you are such a great artist!

Sean Reifschneider

Oh my godddd Captain. You are a God amongst us mere mortals. What a great (and unexpected) collab. I have to watch this a few more times to fully appreciate the absolute spectacle. And just when I thought you couldn't up yourself. Oh and going in cold... BEST way to go into this. When those girls stepped out of that portal I did a big double take. Worth it.

Douglas Pluylaar

That was such an enjoyable video. I love how you were able to create three music video concepts, broke down the entire process, went over all the pitfalls you encountered, and made the whole thing so entertaining.

Zakabog

When I watch videos like this it makes me realize just how little I know about VFX. I think I only use AE for 1/10 of what it's capable of.

Bizzaro.

Amazing! Thank you!

Austen Walsworth

That was simply incredible! I cannot imagine the amount of work this required. Really amazing!

Migwel

That was amazing. You collaborating with AG is the least expected and greatest thing. Thank you, Captain and your team.

Justin Anderson

My god this is insanity, you've really outdone yourselves! Simply amazing!

sam ballard

Wow. When you said Goliath you weren't kidding! What a gargantuan undertaking with amazing results. Congrats to you and your entire team!

Morgan Kellis

That was so worth the wait. Congratulations for all the effort!

João Lucas da Silva

nice

Zach Thacker

Dang that was cool, no wonder it took so much hard work. It was well worth the wait Alan, I love this!

Jeffrey Williams

This is absolutely incredible!! So much to learn from this one video. Amazing as always, Cap.

Arielvaale

This was so fun and mind blowing to watch. I love your work and the time and effort you put in to every video. Also, those effects you do for showing your behind the scenes work and editing is simply incredible and you had me laughing a ton. Keep it up, you’re amazing.

Stefanie Ajhar

That was incredible! Though I do wonder how quickly you will get copy-struck on YT by a third-party subsidiary of a holding company of a digital rights managements company that Atarashii Gakko's label's parent company has a contract with.

Maarten Daalder

Amazing video! So happy right now!!

Florian Obrecht

The embed now works

Maarten Daalder

That was wonderfully wholesome and highly entertaining! Cap, you knocked it out of the park with this one.

Norman

Unauthorized video! WHYYYYYYYY

Corey Lane Menscher

The amount of work that went into this is AMAZING. Another masterpiece, Cap. Thank you!

Dave Shevett

Well, that was awesome.

Tinwhisker

@David Whitney: I'm afraid it stopped working. :(

Maarten Daalder

Ok, now it works.

David Whitney

"Sorry Because of its privacy settings, this video cannot be played here."

David Whitney

Thanks! This works!

Brian Gregory

not working for me

Baptiste Pretre

that works on my computer, thanks!

Austen Walsworth

It worked via the app, there it redirected to https://player.vimeo.com/video/732562482

Maarten Daalder

First it couldn't find it, but then I logged in and now it's "Unauthorized" which is an interesting distinction

RONNIE FILYAW

Same :(

Doft

Also got the "couldn't find". Logged in to Vimeo with the account I use here, now it gives me an "Unauthorized". Grmbllff..

Thomas Tonino

same. :(

Austen Walsworth

Worked for me too, and I can't even put into words the excitement I felt clicking that link and seeing the video load.

Deacon Konc

Yeah, I'm getting "Sorry we couldn't find the page" :(

Dave Shevett

Worked for me!

Matt Kelly

"Sorry, we couldn’t find that page" ?

Brian Gregory
