Boy, this episode... sometimes they just don't come easy. I tried to do a thing where I interweave a debunking topic and a YouTube drama topic, but something about it didn't jive together. So I had to chip away at it, with tons of adjustments to the pacing and the voiceover throughout the whole month, until it sort of, kind of constituted a sensible video.

I'm curious to hear your reactions!

My resolution for next year is to keep things simpler and funnier. More ostriches, less faux ranting ;)

I thought this ep was absolutely brilliant. Of course it might be a bit confusing to those who don't pay attention to the YouTube community in general, but having experienced the H3 rants and whatnot this was a very refreshing voice of reason. Bless you CD.

My favorite video of 2016! Led me to become a Patreon sponsor for the first time.

Captain, I was shrieking with laughter at the final scene for whole minutes. Neighbors probably thought I was being literally tickled to death. I love your videos so much. I'm so glad I can finally support you again! Happy New Year!

Kelly Young

Joined you on Patreon because it's fabulous to see somebody finally push back against the "algorithm change" nonsense. I'm not surprised it was you.

Top notch vid as always. Happy New Year Captain.

Steve

Great job!

I have goosebumps. Two of my favorite creators on YouTube are Captains. Cheers sire. And may you have a smashing year!

GOOD VIDEO. Would skeptic again.

I loved it. It was creative and complex - two of the hallmarks of your work that I admire. I'm tired of stupid youtube stuff and hardly watch it at all, which circles round to the general problem you highlight. It's similar to that of the general public being unable or unwilling to think deeply or critically. They are content to consume junk - junk media, junk food, junk news, etc. They prefer to be passive, eating up PewDiePie-like content, and not be challenged. As a person who prefers wondrous reality instead of people's uneducated guesses and opinions, I have a hard time dealing with this state of things myself. I get 10x less followers or views for skeptical pieces than idiotic mystery-mongering sites. So, yes, you do have to keep doing things you think are interesting at your own pace. We like it. The audience that follows you is smarter and more discerning than the general public. We desperately need intelligent, thought-provoking content. It's so rare.

Really loved the completely mixed up format and pacing because even if it didn't work out (which it definitely did) its obviously something you wanted to try a take on in a sort of a 'play it close to the chest' video topic already. Last shot with the slow pan to a blank face and sceptik hat tied it together really well!

I thought it was awesome, but then, I'm a CD fanboy. For me, being disillusioned has a lot to do with calling out mass hysteria and bandwagoning, so I think this video is in line with your overall character. Just like any superhero show we all want to see the superhero use his superpowers, but we also want to see his character, which you accomplished here.

It took me a while to discover you Capn' D, but I've been looking for every new video of yours since - you will always have a loving fan base.

I guess I just feel this is a jive-ass episode, soul brother :P

Keep up the top work Cap.

I talked about the pewdiepie thing on my radio show when it was going on. It's nice to see someone else comment on it in a classy way and not some shitty clickbait ad.

Bizzaro.

"it didn't jive together". Jibe is the word you are looking for: "to be in agreement".

I agree with some other people here, overall great video as usual, but at first the interlacing was a little hard for me to tell what you were saying (as in the message, I could here the audio fine). Like, it was steeped in a little too much irony, I think, but by the end I understood what you were trying to get across. But what do I know, I'm just some schmuck in the comments section! You da best, CD and CD team!

RLM shoutout. sweet!

The interweaving of the message felt a bit odd at first, but by the end, I fully enjoyed it. Glad you said what you wanted to say.

I am sorry about the algorithm change. I have changed my sub to your channel so I can get notifications when you post. Keep up the good work!

dang harsh words for the OKGO videos

Great video. Your points about YT really made me think about it in a new light. Thanks for being such a quality channel amidst so much crap.

Patrick Foster

Interesting video format! It was a little bit more challenging to follow, but I understand that you probably ran into a few more problems planning this one. It was also a really nice way to spice up what would have been a run-of-the-mill debunk. I kind of viewed it has a humorous youtube drama debunk--very clever!

I thought the ranting was integrated well and worked. It is definitely a different tone than other CD videos, and you may trigger some H3H3 fans. The pacing and voiceovers were also spot on. Solid video.

Useless Duck Company

Thank you for the great content! One of very few highlights of 2016. 27 hours and one second to go!

Susan Gerbic

Or maybe he paid Kevin $30 for a Standard License? I would assume it's original though, it's pretty similar to some "dramatic moments" in previous CD clips.

Michael Krehan

Top notch - this one will go down as a classic. Gotta love "emo" CD.

Eckhart lol

Pretty interesting. The little rant dispersed throughout the video helped bulk out what might have been an otherwise short, but still interesting, video. Nice work as usual!

Very nice. Although I'm going to continue to pretend that the continuous loss of one subscriber from my channel each week after posting is due to evil algorithms.

Keith Marrocco

Isn't that song at 0:50 an Incompetech performance of Gymnopedie? If it is, might want to credit Kevin ;-). It could also be an original one. Just mentioning it as it sounds very close.

Thanks Cap!
