(Design Diary) Dicey Dicey Dicey

I have all of the original rule set in code and was able to play through a few rounds. I am forever grateful that I did it this way. I'm able to quickly run into a number of the issues around defense vs enemy levels vs experience points and so on.

I will say there is something here though! I am enjoying the game loop and there are, to me at least, interesting decisions to be made. Do you tackle certain enemies to gain the XP to raise your ATK or DEF or do you leave them behind, taking some damage, so you can start the next floor with more health?

I'm currently messing around with "free XP". Right now the rules state that if your ATK is equal to or less than the enemy level, you take damage equal to the enemy level - your DEF. The issue here though is if you DEF is equal to or higher than the enemy level, you don't take any damage. Maybe the minimum amount of damage is always 1? I'll try that next!
