The Forge, Reminder: The Pratchett Story!
Added 2019-03-07 05:38:34 +0000 UTCHello, Foundry maintenance crew!
Barely three days until the next Forge session! I'm fairly certain this'll be the last session we spend on Pratchett, so let's make it count and try to figure out what exactly we're doing with this short story, shall we?
The Foundry Forge
When: Friday, March 8th, 6:30-7:30pm CST
Where: The Tale Foundry Discord server, in the #the-forge and #the-forge-voice channels. Make sure your Patreon account is linked to your Discord account in order to participate (click here to see how). Only Engineers ($10+ patrons) can type in chat, but all patrons can watch and listen.
Topic: We're going to be discussing the Terry Pratchett short story at length, figuring out what we absolutely want to put into the story most, and furthermore, what jokes we can tell about them! We're not necessarily after puns here, but I feel humor will be an important aspect of the Pratchet series short story. It's the spirit of the thing, you know?
For your reference, here the premise of the Pratchett short story: Dante's inferno, but instead of Hell it's the story of an AI sent on a machine-learning quest through the circles of the internet toward its ever more postmodern, faceless center.
I expect to invoke important archetypes, institutions, and dynamics of internet culture throughout this story, without invoking particular memes or other items that will rapidly date the story.
Remember: It's a "forge" session because the ultimate goal is to learn and make something up together. Be ready to give your thoughts and your opinions, and feel free to share any resources you might have at your disposal!
Hope to see you all there!
