Progress Update: The Slow Climb toward Normalcy
Added 2018-12-31 19:54:44 +0000 UTCG'monday, all y'all helpful humans!
Let's all take a moment and just... breathe.
The new video is officially out, things are officially going to be okay. At least in terms of the integrity of the show. It'll still be really difficult for a while with the demonetization and all, but we're still chugging along, even after everything that's happened through the tail end of 2018.
I feel strongly that it can only get better from here, and we're in an okay place to begin with.
Let's talk about it.
Where are we now?
I've just begun earnest work on the research for the Terry Pratchett series, and it's coming along excellently. I feel my understanding of author voice and writing style expanding dramatically as I do my research, and I can already tell this is going to be an incredibly useful series for everyone who wants to improve their craft and find their voice as writers.
In addition, I'm going to begin some script work for the January Patreon drive video this evening. It shouldn't be a huge production, but I think it's going to be really important to the future of the show.
Patreon rewards for the month should begin to roll out later this week. That means all your letters and taleoids will be on the way soon!
What's next?
Vidcon London is going to eat up about a week or so of production time in the middle of February, but by then I should be mostly primed to come home and finish up work on the first episode.
I'm also going to mess around with pipelines a little bit for this series and see how that goes. I'd like to draft the episode and the list at the same time so that the scripts can inform each other, and it'll help me free up some time in the middle of production, I feel. Overall it should make for a slightly longer writing process, though.
We'll see how this turns out. I'm curious about taking a more holistic approach to creating series.
Overall, i'm anticipating a climb back toward normalcy around here, and then a catapult toward something far better. 2019 should be an excellent, game-changing year for the Foundry.
I'm glad you're all here to experience it with me. <3
Happy New Year's, to all who are celebrating.
