Sneak Peek: Engineering a Premise

This time around things are (yet again) a little more podcast-y, as I dive into the convoluted logic I had to riddle out in order to devise a premise for this short story. This definitely isn't set in stone yet—it still bears some discussion with the competition winner—but I'm in love with it at the moment and I hope I'm able to move forward with it confidently.
I'm also curious for your opinions. What do you think of this premise? Are there any angles I'm missing? Is there something you want to be sure I include in the story?
