Massive Update: Patreon Overhaul 2.0!

Alright you guys, prepare yourselves. A lot has been happening on the back end of Tale Foundry, and we've found like... five-million ways to improve our patreon.

So, before our big collab with World Anvil fires, we want to set this stuff in motion. Bear with us! These changes are mostly organizational and largely on the back end, but some of them *may* effect you! 

What's happening?

We recently began a partnership with a merchandising company. With their help, we'll be able to create all kinds of amazing, unique merch and rewards for our fans—things like taleoid keychains/bookmarks, plushies, new shirts/apparel, enamel pins, etc., etc. This is a really big deal to us, and it could make a huge difference for the longevity of the brand. It also means we've had to step back and re-evaluate how we've been managing our merchandise and rewards so far. 

Because this is a partnership and not a service we're paying for, we have to make sure they're getting the most out of it, which means working with them on how we run things. So as a result, we're making one major change that will result in a lot of trickle-down changes as we implement it.

1 — We're dissolving the lifetime rewards program

2 — All non-merchandise rewards from the program will become immediately unlock-able when you sign up for the appropriate patron tier

3 — We're deleting the $3, $15, and $20 tiers—their rewards will be moved to lower tiers

4 — We'll be adding additional patron tiers to place some of the previous lifetime rewards at and replace deleted tiers 

How will this affect me?

We love the lifetime rewards program. It's been a lot of fun to see your reactions when you get mailed a mug or a notebook after a long period of patronage. Overall, we're sad to see it go, but excited for the new Entry Rewards approach we'll be taking from here on out.

That said, we know some of you guys have also been loving the Lifetime Rewards program, and it feels terrible to take it away from you at such short notice. So...

All current patrons will continue to receive Lifetime Rewards for the next 3 months

As for the rest of the changes, the rewards you're getting for your pledge will remain almost completely unchanged. Mostly, you'll just be getting more stuff faster. Let me break down the new tiers really quick:

$1 (Previously): Access to Feed + Patrons-only Discord Channel + Votes
$1 (Now): Access to Feed + Patrons-only Discord Channel + Votes + Sneak Peeks + Access to Live AMAs on Discord (time TBD)

$3 (Previously): Sneak Peeks
$3 (Now): THIS TIER WILL BE DELETED — We're moving this reward to the $1 tier

$5 (New!): Gain Access to Our First Three Videos + Youoyr Name in Scrolling BG Text of Videos + Merchandise Reward Discount (amount TBD)

$10 (Previously): Access to Think Tank Sessions on Discord
$10 (Now): We'll Make You a Custom TF Avatar +  Access to Think Tank Sessions on Discord  + Merchandise Reward Discount (amount TBD) 

$15 (Previously): Name in Scrolling BG Text of Videos $15 (Now): THIS TIER WILL BE DELETED — the BG text reward will now be a part of the $5 tier

$20 (Previously): N/A (rewards forthcoming)
$20 (Now): THIS TIER WILL BE DELETED — we weren't offering any rewards here, and we can't find any that fit this slot proportionately now 

$25 (Previously): Verbal/Visual Thanks on-screen at Each Series End
$25 (Now):  We'll Mail You a Hand-Written Letter from Talebot and the Team + Verbal/Visual Thanks on-screen at Each Series End + Merchandise Reward Discount (amount TBD) 

$50 (New!): Adopt a Taleoid! (more info here) + Priority Questions Taken Ahead of Time for AMAs + Merchandise Reward Discount (amount TBD) 

$100 (New!): Place an Easter Egg in One of Our Videos + Automatically Unlock All Limited-Run/Promotional Merchandise! + Merchandise Reward Discount (amount TBD) 

And yes, these are "Entry Rewards", but if you've been an ongoing patron at the appropriate tier... 

You'll automatically unlock entry rewards at that tier whenever the next pay period rolls around. 

Final Thoughts

This is a very large and very sudden change, but overall the result will be more rewards in all of your hands faster. It will also enable us to produce better rewards and merchandise in the future as we work with our merchandising partner, which is really exciting for us.
