Progress Update: Back on the Horse

Back from Gen Con, to be more precise.
The day before yesterday, Chloe and I officially came home from the best four days in gaming the United States has to offer. Just like last year, it was a hell of an experience. We met a lot of other creators with their own awesome projects and discussed their businesses with them, and I personally am looking forward to keeping up correspondence with them. Maybe I can learn a thing or two. Who knows?
Beside the business side of things (which I shall forever be obsessed with), we had a lot of fun just experiencing the con as well. We went to an outdoor performance of Shakespeare's Corialanus which was phenomenal, joined a circle of strangers in the grass for spontaneous games, played lots of MTG and werewolf, and generally had a lovely time all around.
A highlight, though? We got to bring a lot of you with us for an evening. We had one scheduled AMA (ask me anything) while we were there, and then one unscheduled, spontaneous AMA later that night. Despite the fact that it had almost nothing to do with the con itself, it was one of the best parts of gen con. We had a blast talking to you guys between all the wonderful chaos of the convention, so thank you for joining us.
Now, onto the actual update.
Where are We?
It's always slow coming back from an experience like gen con. Living life is a skill, and it can take a while to re-learn when you've spent a while away.
Since we've come home, Chloe and I have mostly been playing cleanup before jumping back into production. Re-evaluating our to-do list, meeting up with our community teams, discussing our collaboration with World Anvil and preparing our side of things, etc., etc. It feels like there's been a lot to pick back up, but I think we're just about there. In fact, I should be doing some animating tonight before bed, which I see as a really great sign. I've done a lot worse bouncing back from breaks in the past.
What's Next?
We have a lot in the pipeline beyond managing the community and producing the show. Lots of little tweaks and changes as things move forward.
For instance, we just upgraded our plan with Wordpress. Among other things, that means we can begin using plug-ins for our site which will allow us to do all kinds of fun stuff, not the least of which might be sharing private videos with our patrons (the patreon video upload limit is 200MB, which is absurdly small and has acted as a hurdle to us in the past—this will give us a way around it).
The AMAs also went so well at gen con that we're re-evaluating our positions on live content. We promised it as a reward later on, but maybe there's a way to go half way and start interacting with you guys on a more personal basis more often. The new sneak peek model is a step toward that, but let's just wait and see how far this goes...
Expect lots of little changes to the way we run our brand in the next few months. Positive things. Improvements. We're learning.
Anything Else?
I wanted to thank you guys again for joining us during our gen con AMAs. They were just about the most fun I've had running an event of any kind, and I'm so grateful for all of your support and your presence. I can feel myself become more free and social as I open up to you. It's been an awesome experience, and I'm looking forward to more of it in the future.
Now, if y'all don't mind, I've got a World Anvil moniker to edit into this sequence. Thanks for reading, and good bye for now!
