System Shock 2 Draft

Still in the editing mines putting together the also-rans for the next Children of Doom (some really fun, weird stuff in 1999!) but I have managed to finish the System Shock 2 part to a level where I'm comfortable sharing it and since it's been so long since and update I figured one was due. Let me know what you think! I should be back with the rest of the video soon!

The "person you thought was a good guy is actually a bad guy" became a trope for Looking Glass games but was this the first time it was done? Your suggestions on how the story could have been improved continued to rattle around in my head for hours after the video ended. Changing the voices of the crew members from a groan of "Help me" to a pleasant "Are you lonely? Join us" would have made the voice of the Many to be more alluring. Still not convincing though; the brain worms still give me the creeps decades later.

I was struck at the evolution of the graphical style of the 3D rendering, but I couldn't articulate why - it's just, like ... creamier, or something. Small note: SHODAN is decidedly self-aggrandizing, so as a reference to mythology it would make sense ... but in the past few years it has become very trendy to equate narsissistic personality disorder and abusiveness in a way which makes life *very* hard for NPD folks. The game's not about NPD and, in 2024, saying "narcissistic" makes people *think* NPD, so it's probably better to pick a synonym or something and avoid that whole can of worms.
