Catacomb 3-D (Children of DOOM Episode 1)
Added 2020-03-01 05:52:39 +0000 UTCSo I'm trying something a little different here, and if you follow me on Twitter you may have seen me debating whether to try it. Basically I'm really interested in doing a riff on a few series the AV Club have done where they've taken an idea and run through each year of it (super hero films, best selling blockbusters, etc). And I thought it sounded fun, mostly because I find myself some months stuck between feeling pressured to do a Big Smarty Video (tm) or a still-serious-but-kinda-fun Blips. This felt like a way to just pick a favorite game from a list each year, then say whatever I wanted about it. A lower pressure way to have a fun retrospective that I can do off and on whenever I'm not prepared for a Big Thinkpiece or whatever.
Anyways, I have a number of games for Blips ready to go, so that should be soon. However, I'm curious: in the interests of getting more out faster, would you all like to see Blips episodes about one-off games? Or is the current format of collecting a pack of 'em worth doing, to kind of give you this medley of different flavors? Just a thought.

Thought I knew it all, but you continue to enlighten. Will you be covering Strife in this series? I played it a couple of years ago and found it a really peculiar, slightly broken, experience. Like something that fell through a worm hole.

2020-03-06 12:52:14 +0000 UTCThis is a great format. This video was very fun--I understand that there was a little more throat clearing up front, but looking forward to the ball getting rolling. One suggestion--the "runners up" section at the end of AV Club articles, going through the other contributions of any given year helps ground their column, and could help place your selections in their time and place. I'd love to see that as well.

Also, for Blips, if you wanna do them one at a time, I think that's cool too! As long as we get more of them I'm happy!

2020-03-01 10:16:37 +0000 UTCCollecting a pack is fine, especially if they are thematically similar in any way. I think it would work either way, so whatever floats your and YT algo's boat. One thing I should mention is by the time I've determined if I'm invested in the game and want to either play it or watch it, I can't remember at all what you said it was called and have to rewind. Maybe that's just a me-problem, but if they were in individual videos with the game name in the title that would be easier.
