Sympathy bait
Added 2022-10-06 05:24:34 +0000 UTCWe human are sympathetic creatures. Yes, some might argue that we are evil, cruel, never-stop consumming other life forms and so on. But majority of us are kind and sympathetic, even when we doesn't show it out in an obvious way.
However, alot of people have been taking advantage of this amazing trait of humanity to profit themselves in a dishonest fashion. Especially when it comes to art market. I saw artists who were begging online, told a sad story about how their beloved ones are dying, sick or something more "personal" like the artists themselves having sickness and needing helps. And helps here mean giving them money, buying their artworks and giving them every kind of financial boosts. Realistically, if someone, or even you, are having severe illness and other horrible problems, you won't go online to beg for money. That would be just, browsing social media and baiting for clouts. If the situation is that urgent, playing around with social media would be the last thing you do.
I call that sympathy bait. You are trying to make people feel bad by not supporting you, bamboozle them into guilt trip. Even worse, if you are lying to them, you are nothing more than a fraud, a scammer and an egoistic jerkass. If your achievements came from a lie, then it is not worth it. Just because it is easy money, does not mean you should do it.
