Some nice references from a nearby village

My friends, we didn't have any real life references in a while, and when I saw this old water mill, I almost jumped out of my skin from the sheer excitement.

I mean, the main door itself looks like it was taken directly from Emmanuel Nouaillier's work!

When you look closely, it also shows how the walls were plastered in the past. You could have a brick or wooden wall inside which was covered with a "mesh" made out of dried reed grass, and covered with cement+fine gravel stucco.

Also, clay bricks (the brown ones) were pretty common in the past. It's interesting to see that so many buildings made from them still stand strong to this day. And it's also interesting to see the history, although in this case it's not as if they made the initial building out of clay bricks and then expanded it with more modern materials... nope, regular bricks at the bottom, clay bricks toward the top!

Great pictures. I love taking pictures of old and battered buildings anywhere I go, inspired by Emmanuel Nouaillierโ€™s art.

Wow, these are really nice photos for reference, Martin. Iโ€™m thinking your next diorama will have a building face, similar to this one, or, perhaps you will have another inspired facade build in the near future. All great stuff. Thanks for sharing these ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜Ž Cheers ๐Ÿป
