Ready for paints!

My friends, I wish every PE set was as simple and straightforward as this one from Eduard!

Okay, it's not the most detailed one out there, in fact, it somehow misses the important hooks for tow cables on the sides of the hull, but I was able to build them from the leftover PE sprues.

But the real treat was the fenders. I was worried that soldering would be required, and that I'd had to assemble them fully and only then attach them to the model, but that couldn't be further from the truth. I just had to use superglue and assemble the fenders section by section directly on the model :)

The tool box isn't the most detailed piece of PE, and neither are the Eduard tool clamps, but hey, they're still better than the original plastic parts!

I also solved the ugly gap on the engine deck - no tarp needed, just a box of wrenches from an unknown PE set I have in my spares.

In other words, the model is ready to be disassembled, washed in soapy water, and primed!

PS: the upper superstructure is just dry-fitted to the hull so I can easily remove the gun barrel. It doesn't fit perfectly but once glued, everything should be good!

Just so beautiful Martin the finish is exquisite. Can I ask a question do you know where I might find decals for stowage ? Seems to be lots of examples showing numbers writing ect . Thank you for taking the time to read this 🙂

Are you going to be following the box art for painting?

And i always thought Amusing Hobby was one of the better kits wrt the ferdinand. Well. I’ll look forward to your video and start with mine afterwards. Cheers!

Omg, the teeny-tiny wrenches and tools are so cute! And the build is really coming along…can’t wait for the paint job!!

Photo etch can be a mixed bag. We want the most detail in our kits and we can go down a rabbit hole of detail kits. Fenders, clamps, screens, periscopes, stowage, wheels, rivets, bolts and so forth. Even 2, 3, 4 PE kits for one model. And then it becomes work, fustration and an imcomplete model. Sometimes simplicity is king.

….and then next is my favourite part, the painting and weatherIng. 😍
