More industrial decay

My friends, I've found some time over the weekend to work on the remaining brick segments. Today was quite productive and most of the other important elements are done!

The air vent is 3D printed and designed by yours truly, and I'll upload the file in a moment :)

Creating the board-formed concrete frame was trickier than I expected, but I guess better results come with experience. Each floor segment was done by gluing a strip of thin styrofoam, absolutely soaking it with diluted Tamiya putty (again, diluted with alcohol), letting it sit and pressing strips of balsa into the surface. The large cracked panel on the left side is a single block of foam, and this led to much better results. Both in the delicate board-formed texture, not to mention the cracks! Oh, adding cracks into this surface is a pleasure. The putty-reinforced styrofoam acts like real miniature concrete/stucco depending on what you're adding the effect to.

Remnants of old stucco were simply made from thin strips of foam, glued to the surface, and textured with putty. Once again, once it was dry, I added some cracks here and there. Pressing some of the cracked areas down will lead to awesome 3D results.

The large metal door isn't finished yet. My plan was to get it done tonight, but I was too tired to finish the remaining details. The coolest thing? It's a single piece of styrene :) Of course, detailed with Evergreen strips and hinges made from lead foil. I tried adding very subtle welds with superglue according to references, we'll see how these will look with some paint. The door sits on improvised balsa wood "jambs" glued to the styrofoam pillars, and actually slides neatly between the stucco and the balsa wood.

The large window is scary, just as it was on the large warehouse I made for the Conqueror diorama. Fingers crossed it won't fall apart and will fit into the window opening without any issues! If everything goes well, this thing should be ready for painting in two days or so :)

Love the cracked wall segment, the door not too shabby too. Fingers crossed for the behemoth window!
