Do we really need a winter camo?

My friends, here's a quick progress from Friday evening. And yes, it's a really quick progress because this whole post-shading work went super smooth and fast!

The parcel I ordered last Monday arrived today, which is really unfortunate because I'm used to wait 3 days tops... and it was even more unfortunate, as I didn't have flat white to spray the winter camo over the weekend!

But that's what I'm gonna do today. The turret was a testbed because most of it will be painted white, and what I noticed immediately is how smoother surfaces make post-shading much easier. Spraying the IS-2 wasn't easy due to its rough textures, but this was a breeze!

I only needed two layers of highlights. The base was sprayed with MRP 4BO again, the first highlight was again 4BO + Yellow Green, and the final layer was the previous mix with some Deck Tan added for that pale, desaturated tone.

I wanted to keep the green rather desaturated as the tank will be presented in a winter setting, but couldn't resist that Yellow Green from Tamiya. And also, I tried keeping it rather pale, because a darker base color would create very strong contrasts with the winter white wash, and as a result, the 4BO would appear even darker than it really is. I know that didn't make any sense 🀣

Anyway, I'm so happy with the 4BO that I don't even want to cover it with a winter coat, but hey, that's the next step in this process!
