The Shocker!
Added 2024-09-19 12:12:08 +0000 UTC...is not that I am, in fact, alive and still working, but a new Weapons upgrade I'm testing for Operation Kurgan.
I'm refining the CIVPOP rules, for more missions that involve trying to deal with an enemy using civilians as cover. Heroes will have to work hard to work out who their targets are and then take them down without accidentally letting innocents get caught in the crossfire.
Not coincidentally, I'm painting up some new civilian minis and sourcing more.
Anyway, for when you find yourself in CQB with someone you'd rather not have to kill, here's the shocker:
Shocker
Shockers are a police tool used in arrest and restraint against violent suspects. They come in a variety of forms and use a mix of tech, but are mostly build around delivering an electric shock to targets. They are tricky to use, and by no means guaranteed non-lethal, but they can be useful when needing to restrain someone you would prefer not to kill.
A character equipped with a shocker may make a CQB action with -1 D. A player must declare that they are using the shocker before making any CQB test. If they successfully hit the target, bogeys go immediately to the down state; characters are wounded(+1) in addition to the normal CQB results, but cannot be made dead by the same action.
(Players may also like to use the shocker to represent characters who are especially skilled in close-quarters arrest and restraint. Which is definitely not the same thing as martial arts.)
