I posted a short piece on Facebook earlier today about the Dragonfly gunship mini from Microworld Games which I then realized could have been a slightly longer blog post, so I re-posted it to my blog with a few more thoughts appended.

As I have to go back to the day job tomorrow, I was wondering how to sustain my work promoting Horizon Wars: Midnight Dark for the rest of the month and it dawned on me that a blog series looking at some minis from different small, independent manufacturers could be a great way to open people's minds to the possibilities the game offers.

I've prepared the first six such blog posts for the next couple of weeks, but it occurred to me that you guys might have some useful input.

So if there's a mini you'd love to see statted up for Horizon Wars: Midnight Dark, let me know what it is. I would ask that suggestions be:

1. 6mm or 6mm adjacent (i.e. maybe not explicitly designed for 6mm but could pass for it in a good light)

2. Available in physical form (no STL-only)

3. Currently for sale (nothing OOP)

4. Not GW. I do plan to buy an Legions Imperialis army at some point and stat it up for HWMD, but not for a few months yet.

If you can also provide a link, even better.

My scheduled posts cover Brigade Models, Khurasan Miniatures, Grumbled Miniatures and Iliada Game Studio. So you can suggest minis from these but I'll be prioritising other manufacturers for the time being. I expect I'll get back to these soon as they all have some really lovely pieces.

I was going to pass on the suggestions as I don't have favorite mechs minis, until I received the book and saw the drawings on pages 8 and 12. I DO have many minis that work perfectly in that range of heavy infantry/light mechs, because I play Weasel-Tech in 6mm and mechs there are on the smaller side (4 to 5 meters). So, Vanguard has been already mentioned, but from this point of view, they have TONS of perfect minis, in the shape of Combat Automatons, Small Walkers or large Exo-suits. Onslaught miniatures as well. Basically anything 6mm that is supposed to work as walkers/suits proxies for 40k. Minis that end up being about 15 or 18mm tall. I'll post some pics on Discord later tonight.

Various iterations of the EM4 mechs we all love would be good: https://em4miniatures.com/products/mechs The 15mm Stargrunt Spider Drones from ground Zero Games look great as smaller 6mm mechs (They've updated the design from the ones I picked up at salute but the new ones still look awesome) https://shop.groundzerogames.co.uk/15mm-stargrunt/15mm-stargrunt/vehicles/15mm-stargrunt/vehicles/remotes-drones-and-bot-s/v15-185a.html Battletech is taking off in a pretty massive way so basically any battletech mini statted up for HW would be good, as I think the complexity of BT is a turning off point for people who would otherwise love to use the minis. Something iconic like an Atlas or Madcat or Urbanmech would be awesome (urbanmechs especially come in single packs) yes, I like my mechs. Also a couple of suggestions on the format itself: - Might be an idea to include a full sample unit card (including upgrades, costs and variants) to add some more value - that way someone can look at the article and go "yeah, ok, I like that" and pick up the model and have its stats ready to go, no book-flipping required. - If you'd like to do a variant series of articles with conversions or 3D prints rather than stock models, once I'm set up at my new house I'd be happy to contribute, you know how I love me a kitbash
