Horizon Wars: Midnight Dark (0.01)
Added 2022-09-19 16:57:08 +0000 UTCIt ain't pretty and it certainly ain't anyone's idea of "finished" but, as promised, my most beloved mech-level backers get to see the raw text of Horizon Wars: Midnight Dark.
Truth is, I could've kept on tinkering with this for weeks to come until I thought it was "ready" for you but, luckily, I promised you'd have it this month and didn't feel inclined to keep you waiting any longer.
Even though this isn't finished - for a start, the Strategic Assets section hasn't been written yet and there aren't any finished missions to play either - I feel like it really should give you a sense of where the design is going. There's enough in here for a player with a little initiative (which is you lot, after all) to join the dots and get some minis on the table to take the new game for a spin if you should feel so inclined.
I've tried to add Designer's Notes (at the end) as I've gone along to reflect what's here and what's not. The one thing I recently removed entirely and haven't commented on is Airborne Infantry. Don't worry! It's still in the game. But now it's become an upgrade, so any element can, theoretically, be airborne - even mechs and tanks! Drop insertion is a method of deployment available to airborne elements.
What else is new? Well, lots of things. I guess the big obvious one is heroes. But it's also worth noting that the game has acquired a points system. It's very early days for points and I make no promises that they won't dramatically change between now and publication.
Anyway, I hope you all enjoy it. Please comment here with any actual errors you spot (contradictions in the text, spelling mistakes and inconsistencies). But if you want to have a discussion, let's do that in the Mech section of the Discord.

Yep. Almost every 6mm element i own, from infantry to heavy mechs, is on a tuppence. Only super heavies get bigger bases. Pilot heroes are on pennies.
