News #52 - What's Old is New!

Somewhat inspired by reference, last week, to the new Horus Heresy release teased by Games Workshop, I stumbled across a couple of other manifestations of retro-style tabletop wargaming in the form of Warzone Eternal, from Res Nova Games, and VOID Squad Tactics, from Seb Games:

Meanwhile, I've been trying to learn about Kickstarter and how other small producers use the platform innovatively or imaginatively and that led me to the campaigns for Mega Tokyo 6mm Terrain and Hunting Packs of Dogs Miniatures:

Finally, as will be routine for the next couple of months, I talk about my own plans for Kickstarter. If you'd like to know more, you can subscribe to the newsletter here:

Patreon Exclusive text:

So, having struggled to get my recording software to work last week and gone live on the spur of the moment, I decided to try just recording live again, this week, only to find out that my audio on the live video was total bunk.

Having completed a full diagnostic, my best guess is that my local exchange just couldn't handle the awesome, because my microphone worked fine. Anyway, it ended up being a reverse of last week. I recorded because live didn't work. Go figure.

For those of you preferring the audio version of my podcast, apologies. It should've been up today, but I had some important paid work to actually do, which meant I couldn't finish getting the audio version up. Should be ready tomorrow.

I love the aesthetic of the old Warzone and Void miniatures. We had a pretty regular group that played 1st Ed. Warzone for ages and my mom and I actually ended up cleaning out all of the local shops when Target folded under and all of the stores were selling the models for around 50 cents per blister. But like Robey I did not know anyone that played Void. I ended up using the few models I had for it in an Imperial Guard army.

The original Warzone was by Swedish company Target Games, I had a few of the models and a couple of books but could never find anyone interested in playing. Rumour has it the warzone moulds were destroyed when the company collapsed. The remaining stock of minis and books was bought by Prince August in Ireland, they still have quite a large selection available for sale: https://shop.princeaugust.ie/mutant-chronicles-warzone-classic/
