~Mech Compendium~ September 2021
Added 2021-09-01 11:00:54 +0000 UTCThis compendium contains all of the content available to Mech-level patrons - Defence or Combat. And, by the way, why did no one point out that there was no compendium for you guys in August?? I only just noticed.
Free Rules!
Most people are here for tabletop wargames content, so these links are for you:
Horizon Wars: Infinite Dark (beta)
Horizon Wars: Infinite Dark is a spaceship combat game built upon mechanics familiar from Horizon Wars (currently OOP) and Horizon Wars: Zero Dark. The book was published at the end of last month and is available from Wargame Vault with a patrons' discount code. The DEFENCE MECH discount link for an extra 20% off is here.
This fantasy skirmish game was my first attempt to get a commercial miniatures wargame off the ground. Whilst a spectacular failure, commercially, I stand by the quality of the rules. At some point, I'll rewrite this game concept to bring it more in line with Precinct Omega's winning formula. ;)
Most of us have some grimdark sci-fi minis sitting around, somewhere. These rules are a bit of a fun project for me that I work on when I need a break from more commercially-demanding things. Currently, the rules cover inquisitorial-style kill teams and posthuman starmarines. In due course there will also be rules for more divergent phenotypes within the human clade, such as the Robusti and the Graceful, as well as Bits, Hogres and Warfs.
This is very much a working title for a slow project I work on in honour of Star Wars Day (so this will be getting an update very soon). The link is to the latest update, which has links to previous ones.
If you love the original Horizon Wars battle game or are a new player of the Strato Minis release, Hardwar, based on the same rules, you might like this one-player-one-mech supplement to pit your skills against up to three friends in a brutal, last-mech-standing fight to the death! I've recently released these Patreon-exclusive rules to the general public, so I'll be looking to update and finetune these rules soon for patrons.
Rule of the Month
In response to requests, I've made the Rule of the Month posts visible to Defence Mechs, even though the content is also available in the Mission of the Month posts.
You can get all the Rules of the Month so far from these links:
Spooks, Dotlights, Persuaded and Dependent
Mission of the Month
The following missions are unlocked:
Publicity Stunt - The heroes are forced to be performing monkeys in front of the cameras to keep the support of the taxpayers back home
Honey Trap - infiltrating your own facility is only made harder when you aren't supposed to kill anyone
Catch the Pigeon - hunting down an on-the-run spy - but can you persuade them to come quietly?
Candy From a Baby - this mission has the heroes going back into their own facility to kidnap a suspected traitor
The Tower - From an idea first proposed by a patron, we have a standalone mission for the heroes to climb through the levels of an enemy-infested building to rescue a hostage and escape from the roof!
Merch
I'm not a big one for merch, but I do have a handful of Precinct Omega notebooks left. I'm 99% sure that everyone who asked for one has now either had one or it's on the way. If you've asked and not received an invoice, let me know.
For new patrons who would like one, they are £8.00 + VAT + P&P. If you're outside the UK, I won't charge VAT, but you'll be liable to pay it on delivery (although there's a good chance they won't bother because it's such a small-value item). UK VAT is 20%, so the total for UK patrons is £9.60; UK P&P is £2.45, so it will be £12.05 all-in. Outside the UK, P&P will be charged at cost.
I will also - unless you specifically ask me not to - graffiti a Zero Dark character design or an Infinite Dark ship+pilot design in your notebook along with a scribbled illustration.
First come, first served.
I also have some badges for patrons! They aren't that impressive and you definitely don't want to pay for me to send you one. But if I'm sending you something anyway and you haven't got a badge, well, be sure to let me know an I'll pop one into your parcel!
And there are now T-shirts! Use the code TSHIRTSOMEGA to get access to the trial site. I've removed some designs I didn't think were working and added some more. Teemill uses only responsibly-sourced organic cotton and prints the shirts in the UK.
Zero Dark Miniatures Development
This is an on-going project that some are interested in following. It started with concept art by me, then moved on to 3d sculpting by my project partner, Adam, at Desert Island Designs. The initial two concepts got finished up recently. And we all got to see the (rather hard to make out) 3d prints a couple of weeks ago. I have started test-painting the prints before deciding whether we need to make any changes (spoiler: we do).
FYI, the STLs will not be for sale. Resin master castings, when ready, will be exclusively available to patrons. There will be some sort of crowdfunding campaign to launch the white metal castings, but I've not decided whether to go with KS or some other model of crowdfunding.
We've nearly got KB-3, the last of the foursome, finished. He can be a robot or a drone or an enemy synthetic. I'll share the WIP images very soon.
This compendium contains all of the content available to Heavy Elite patrons.
Heavy Elites now have access to Publicity Stunt, a beta mission from Operation Kurgan in which the heroes must perform for the cameras to gain kudos with the media.

I'm not a big one for merch, but I do have a handful of Precinct Omega notebooks left. I'm 99% sure that everyone who asked for one has now either had one or it's on the way (except yours, DK - sorry, I'll bring it round!). If you've asked and not received an invoice, let me know.

Zero Dark Miniatures Development
This is an on-going project that some are interested in following. It started with concept art by me, then moved on to 3d sculpting by my project partner, Adam, at Desert Island Designs. The initial two concepts have now been joined by a third. You can see the initial prints of Kurtz and Abdalla and I've got better prints of both of them already that I'll share with you once I've got Ngana in-hand.
FYI, the STLs will not be for sale. Resin master castings, when ready, will be exclusively available to patrons. There will be some sort of crowdfunding campaign to launch the white metal castings.

Mission Reports
I am hungry for mission reports. If you take any of the missions in the books or from the Missions of the Month for a spin and either write it up, live tweet it, stream it or otherwise record the experience, let me know and I will reward you with something nice, whether it's some exclusive merch, a piece of custom art, a mini or whatever. I promise it'll be worth your while.
Horizon Wars: Zero Dark 2021 Compendium - "UNKNOWN"
So far I've had... *checks notes*... two submissions for this.
If you fancy getting your writing, miniatures or art into print with all due credit, take a look at the details of this year's Zero Dark Compendium.
Anything Else?
If the veteran patrons can think of anything else in the history I should pull out for monthly refreshment, let me know in the comments. I'll update next month's compendium on the basis of your feedback and anything new that's fallen out for patron consumption.
