Precinct Omega Podcast - News #39 - Crowdfunding

When a microenterprise wants to create something new, how do they do it? In the modern age, crowdfunding has become a core part of the business plan of any small creative business, and in the tabletop industry, Kickstarter is the colossus.

I use this episode to try to take apart the alternative options, look at what kinds of businesses are going to want to use what kind of approach and, ultimately, try to decide whether Kickstarter is right for Precinct Omega.

There'll be a little teaser for this discussion in a draft article I'll be dropping onto the Patreon tomorrow. But in the podcast on Friday, I'll have a *lot* more to say on this subject. Might be a long one.

I've heard mixed reports about Gamefound. But the most important conclusion was that it really is best for *games* - like, "game-in-a-box" games. So it could be a place to look at for when I get around to giving Ballmonsters the shape it deserves. But not the right place for a miniatures crowdfunder.

There is an option for Kickstarter for table games: Gamefound. It is still not the same thing, but has been growing and getting better.

Can't wait for the Armor discussion. It's one I think is done "wrong" most of the times in games.
