Infinite Dark Cover Characters
Added 2021-01-12 09:17:34 +0000 UTCI'm sketching out the cover art for Horizon Wars: Infinite Dark ready to brief the artist. My plan is to evoke the three Command Levels, so we'll have a picture of the captain of a large vessel, flanked by the pilot of a fighter and by a "grizzled frontier explorer" type to represent CL2. In the foreground, we'll have a hologram projection of a vessel of some sort (probably one inspired by one of Ali Dogan Sayiner's designs). The upper portion of the image will fade to a starfield with a planet and an asteroid (the text will mostly sit over this bit).
Anyway, when it comes to the characters on the covers of my books, I'm a big believer in trying to get some proper representation in there. I like to make sure that there is at least one woman and at least one person of colour visibly present. I can't do much to improve diversity in our hobby, but I can at least do this.
The captain (seated) dominates the cover. So, in your opinion (and given that I have two other characters on the cover), should the captain be...
[No judgement on any of these choices, by the way - as I say, there are two other characters to include; if I thought there was a "best" choice I wouldn't be asking for your opinions.]
