I'm back... briefly.

No sign of my bloody laptop charger cable, yet.  We've ordered a second one in the hope that at least one will turn up.  But so far, no joy...

However, my wife has had a brief lull in her work, so I get to use her laptop.  So although I can't do everything I need to, I get to do some of it.  One of those things is to get onto Discord and fix the connection with Patreon so now all of the Defence Mech and Heavy Elite patrons should have access.

I think you should get an invite via Patreon, so I shouldn't need to create an invitation link.  So please let me know if you can't find your way through to Patreon and I'll see what I can do.  Still a learning experience.

I'm going to make a lot more use of Discord as a sort of stream of consciousness for design and hobby stuff at Precinct Omega.  There will (eventually, possibly today) be channels with different levels of access so, eventually, the Discord will be open to all, but there will patrons-only channels, Heavy Elite+ channels and Defence Mech channels.

Basically, the more nebulous and experimental my thinking on a topic is, the fewer people I want knowing about it.  So Defence Mechs will get to see the real guts of early concepts, months or even years away from final realization, while regular non-patrons will only see things that are finished, final and definite shortly before they go live.

I'm going to record a podcast this week, laptop or no laptop.  If there's no laptop, it'll be just using the voice recorder on my smartphone, so the sound quality will be rough and there's be no music, effects or, indeed, Bernard.  But I've got a backlog of interesting topics to discuss and I might explode if I don't start recording some of them.

I'm also going to try to get a very rough version of Infinite Dark posted up here for all patrons to see.  Normally, this sort of thing going forward will be Heavy Elite+, but I feel shitty for being so bad with content this last few weeks so I'm going to dole it out for everyone.  It's *very* rough, though, so bear with.  Lots of gaps and missing rules and bits.  If you want to take it for a test-drive, you'll need to hand-wave bits or just make them up.  Hopefully this will inspire some ideas, though, that you might like to push back my way.

In other news, if you're a Miniature Wargames magazine reader, you'll see my first print ad in the magazine this month.  I've forked out for two months in an experiment I'll talk about more in the podcast this week.  It's pricey, but I'm gambling on it at least paying for itself.  We'll see.  No spoilers, just yet.

Anyway, I'm going to go and do some tidying up on the Infinite Dark rules and I'll be back soon.
