Custom Control Deck - Early Concept
Added 2020-06-14 17:00:02 +0000 UTCI've discussed before my aspiration to produce a custom Control Deck for Zero Dark. The idea would be to run a Kickstarter for the product in around November/December for delivery probably by the following April. This would be a deck of 54 custom playing cards with the imagery of the suits and the face cards themed around the setting and story of Zero Dark.
Stretch goals would then include:
- Two additional Jokers to allow you to add complications to missions
- Aide memoir cards for robot programs and anything else I can think of
Backer goals would include:
- Exclusive missions
- New fiction describing the factions associated with each suit
- Stories and backgrounds for the face card characters in each suit
This is, obviously, very early days in planning. I won't even commission the preliminary artwork for at least another couple of months. But I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts.

They would carry the standard primary action text in some form (still working out how to do that, but I have a few ideas).

2020-06-14 18:03:31 +0000 UTCWould the cards contain the instructions/orders for the bogey activation? Ie. Would the face of the card include the type or bogey and the instructions to for the primary and secondary actions? Or would it be just a zero dark themed set of normal playing cards? The first would mean they would act as a reference to the game rules and avoid the need to look up the actions of you can't recall them. But the down side is it would be harder to adjust the actions in future without invalidating the cards.
