Zero Dark: Alternate Red Force Secondary Actions
Added 2020-04-23 13:49:25 +0000 UTCWhen playing the simpler missions in Solo or Team mode, you might find that cautious moves provide something of an "easy button" solution that means the Red Force never or rarely activates except to move around. Intelligent positioning of your heroes can mean that they sneak in, grab the objective and extract without every so much as taking fire.
Now, this is all intentional on my part but, once you've done it a couple of times, you can find those missions a bit... dull. And that's no fun at all.
Of course, for lots of missions this isn't possible. Achieving your objective will inevitably mean activating the Red Force now and then. But I want to make sure the game remains playable, challenging and entertaining even for those who have mastered the core tactics.
For those players, then, I recommend trying this alternative option for secondary actions:
Alternative Secondary Action
After resolving the primary action, roll a d12 and consult the table below:
1-6 - The active bogey moves a number of inches towards the nearest hero equal to the result on the dice.
7-11 - The active bogey shoots the nearest hero within a range equal to the result on the dice.
12 - Treat as a result of 11 then identify the nearest other bogey to the active bogey. That bogey becomes the active bogey. Roll again.

Good feedback. I'll think about it. Although the fact that you only rolled 7+ through the course of the game is a bit of a statistical anomaly. However, a bit more movement for the Red Force in the alternate secondary actions table would be a good idea. I'm thinking less "they move if they can't shoot" and more "they shoot if they can *and then* they move anyway".

2020-04-27 09:42:18 +0000 UTCHi! I have tested the alternative red force secondary actions and it was a bit weird for me. Lets see, all the dice roll for my red force secondary action was 7+ so they never moved and as I were out of sight they didnt see me (I was playing to force situations like this). So I've been able to take the objective without problems. I came with the conclusion that for me its more suitable these rule modification; 7-11 - The active bogey shoots the nearest hero within a range equal to the result on the dice. If there isnt any character in sight, just move as a standard seconday action move rule. With this you always asure that bogeys are moving towards your characters and putting presure on you, and you have the surprise that you can be shooted. Have a nice day and keep up with the good work :)
